This Google Pixel 9 Pro XL deal is my personal pick for the best Black Friday phone deal for most people
Black Friday is here, bringing with it the best phone deals we’re likely to see all year. In fact, I think I’ve spotted the best Black Friday phone deal for most people, as Amazon has the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL for just $699 (was $1,099).

The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is last year’s best Google Pixel phone, and still offers plenty of performance and high-spec hardware compared to this year’s flagships. This Black Friday deal brings this flagship phone down to a much more reasonable price
For the record, I still think Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7 deal is the best Black Friday phone deal in terms of sheer 'wow' factor, but this Google Pixel 9 Pro XL deal is the easier recommendation to the everyday user thanks to its lower price point and the proven reliability of slab phones.

A reasonable price for an unreasonably powerful phone; this is what Black Friday is all about. The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL at $699 is an absolute no-brainer for Android fans or anyone looking for a premium phone this sales season. With a 6.8-inch display, excellent cameras, large battery, and deep AI integration, this is a modern phone with an air of luxury at a real steal of a price point.

In the UK, Amazon has knocked £300 off the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, resulting in a deal which I honestly think is almost as good as its US counterpart. At this price, the Pixel 9 Pro XL competes with the iPhone 17, Samsung Galaxy S25, and standard Google Pixel 10, and offers a larger screen, more flexible cameras, and a bigger battery than any of them. Sure, its chipset isn't the fastest, but with 16GB of RAM it's ready for multitasking and AI regardless.
What makes this deal so noteworthy is ultimately its low price – the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is a flagship phone that’s been on the market for just over a year, and while we’d expect to see some level of price reduction in that time, a $400 discount brings this powerful premium phone into the realm of mid-range handsets like the OnePlus 13R and Samsung Galaxy S25 FE.
As mentioned, the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL sports some seriously impressive hardware. Its 6.8-inch Super Actua display is one of the nicest screens on the market, and serves as a great screen for mobile gaming or a wide viewfinder for the triple-camera system.
That camera trio is composed of a 50MP main camera, 48MP ultra-wide camera, and 48MP telephoto camera with 5x relative optical zoom – it remains one of the best mobile camera systems around. Be sure to check out our full Google Pixel 9 Pro XL review for photo samples.
And while the Pixel 9 Pro XL’s Google Tensor G4 chipset doesn’t quite keep up with competition from Apple and Qualcomm, the phone’s 16GB of RAM and excellent software means it’s still a winner for multitasking and AI, which is present in abundance via Google’s Gemini feature set.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: $720 off upfront, or up to $1,000 off with trade-in
Samsung has claimed the title of best Black Friday phone deal (so far) with this ridiculous discount on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 folding phone. Right now you can save $720 on the total price of the model with 512GB of storage, bringing the price down to $1,399.99. Sure, that's still pretty darn expensive, but for a phone this powerful it's genuinely a great deal, and gets you a svelte folding phone with excellent displays and a class-leading camera system.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: $450 upfront, or up to $700 off with a trade-in at Samsung
Samsung's Black Friday deal on the excellent Galaxy S25 is the best I've seen yet. Not only do you get a free storage upgrade, but the official retailer is also offering the choice between a $450 upfront discount or a trade-in rebate of up to $750 off. While the trade-in rebate is a long way off from the record-high of around $1,000, the upfront discount here is an incredible deal on this device and enough to bring it down to just $850. Combined with the storage upgrade? Yep, this is the one.

Apple iPhone 16 series: get a $75 gift card, plus up to $670 off with a trade-in at Apple
Apple is just about to launch its big 'gifting' event, so it's worth waiting if you're looking for an unlocked iPhone 16. The official retailer will be throwing in a $75 gift card alongside devices, which is a nice little bonus - if somewhat underwhelming! This is in line with what Apple usually offers over Black Friday, and it's pretty useful for bagging discounts on things like AirPods or chargers. As always, the main selling point here is the trade-in rebate of up to $670, which remains your sole option if you're looking for a discount on an unlocked device.
