The Madrid Derby heads abroad this week, with Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid set to clash in the Spanish Super Cup semifinal on Thursday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Xabi Alonso's side enter the tournament with extra motivation after falling short against Barcelona in last year’s final, while Atlético are chasing just the third Super Cup triumph in their history, and their first in over a decade.

Los Blancos arrive in strong form, having dismantled Real Betis 5–1 on Sunday behind a hat trick from Gonzalo García. That result marked their fourth straight victory across all competitions and kept Alonso’s side within touching distance of Barcelona in the LaLiga title race, though they still trail by four points.

Atlético’s most recent outing was more subdued, as they played out a 1–1 draw with Real Sociedad. Both goals came in quick succession shortly after halftime, leaving neither side able to seize control.

Simeone’s men currently sit fourth in the league, level on 38 points with Villarreal but having played two additional matches. They will, however, take confidence from their previous meeting with Real this season, when they claimed an emphatic 5–2 win at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano back in September.
