FAQs

Is Amazon Music free?

Amazon Music offers a free tier, which gives you access to limited selection of music & podcasts on shuffle and in standard quality, but you'll also hear ads between songs and during podcasts.

You can also get Amazon Music Prime if you are an Amazon Prime customer. This service offers some song selection and removes ads. If you want more features, you'll need to consider paying for an Unlimited tier plan.

How much does Amazon Music cost?

Outside of its free tier, Amazon Music offers two core types of plan: Prime or Unlimited. The Prime tier is included with an Amazon Prime membership (which costs £8.99 a month), meaning its free if you're already a Prime customer.

If you want full on-demand song selection and up to Ultra HD quality, you'll need to upgrade to Amazon Music Unlimited (which also comes with a free monthly audiobook). If you are not an Amazon Prime customer, the service costs £11.99 per month.

If you are a Prime customer, you'll get a slight discount on Unlimited, coming in at £10.99 per month. You can also get a discount if you're a student (£5.99 a month with verification) or if you only use one device (£5.99 a month for an Echo or Fire TV). Finally, if you want up to six users on one account, you can also opt for a family plan (£19.99 per month), so long as you all live in the same household.

Can I get an Amazon Music free trial?

Yes, you can also get 30-day trials on the Unlimited & Single Device tiers, which offer ad-free listening, when you first sign up or by joining Amazon Prime. If you are happy with the service, just wait until the 30 days have ended, and you'll be rolled over into your first billing cycle. If you want to leave, just cancel before the 30 days up and you won't be charged.

How many devices can I use Amazon Music with?

Most Amazon Music plans allow you to link up to 10 devices to your account, so long as only one is listening at a time. However, the amount of devices that can use the plan at one time varies depending on the plan you've chosen.

The Single Tier plan supports just one Amazon Echo or Firestick, and you'll need to nominate this device when you first sign up. The Individual plan doesn't require you to nominate a single device, but you can only use one at one time. The most generous is the Family plan, which supports up to 6 users at once.

Amazon Music Saving Tips

Choose the free tier

If you don't mind ads, limited features and a smaller library of content. Amazon Music's free tier may be all you need, saving you the cost of paying for a different plan. If you decide that you want to upgrade later, you can do so easily through your account settings.

Consider Amazon Prime

Amazon includes Amazon Music free as part of a subscription to Prime, so if you could make use of Prime's faster free delivery options, it may be more cost-effective to access Amazon Music this way. Prime is currently billed at £8.99 per month (or £4.49 per month for 18-22 year olds). Even if you're looking to join on an Unlimited tier, Prime users get a £1 discount each month, which may be worth your while if you'd find a Prime membership useful.

Sign up for longer

Although Amazon will encourage you to pay monthly, you can opt for yearly options for some Amazon Music plans, which effectively offer you 12 months for the price of 10. For example, Unlimited for Prime members comes in at £109 per year, whilst a family plan costs £199 per year. If you can afford the higher upfront cost, this is a great way to lock in savings in the long run. Note that there is no yearly option for Unlimited plans if you are not a Prime customer, or if you are signing up for a student account.

Opt for a family plan

If you're planning to share your account, the family plan supports up to 6 users at one time. It costs £19.99 per month, which effectively means your second user only costs an additional £7 per month (versus the usual £10.99 for individual), and that every additional user is free. You can also get 12 months for the price of 10 by choosing an annual plan, which comes in at £199.

How we source voucher codes

At TechRadar, we have a number of tools at our disposal to help us find the latest voucher codes. Our Vouchers team uses connections with big name brands, our affiliate networks, and the world wide web to source the latest & best codes for our pages. Each page is updated multiple times a week with sales info, exclusive codes negotiated by our Commercial team, and a number of ways to save on your next online order.

How we test voucher codes

Every code listed on TechRadar is tested before it’s added to our pages by our Vouchers team. We include a range of offers including student discounts, sale prices, free shipping, & more across a number of categories of products & services. Each code is checked to ensure it is accepted at the checkout, and you won’t find any one-time use or user-specific codes.

The expiry date and any terms & conditions of each code are also displayed on the page, next to or below the ‘Get Code’ button, for added clarity. Click the text that reads ‘Terms & Conditions’ to expand the corresponding area, where you can read more about any requirements your order will need to meet in order for your chosen coupon to be accepted.

What to do if a voucher code doesn’t work

We take the utmost care to verify every code before it’s uploaded, and include as much relevant information as we can find to make using our codes as straightforward as possible. However, sometimes codes expire or are amended before we’re able to refresh our pages, and codes may not work as intended.

Should you experience any issues, it’s always best to start by checking the terms & conditions on the page. Click “View terms and conditions” and the code area will expand. You’ll see all applicable criteria listed in this area. For example, you may not meet a required minimum spend (i.e. spend £20 or more); you may not have enough times in your basket (e.g. you have only selected 2 products when trying to redeem a 3 for 2 multibuy offer), or your chosen offer may only apply to a certain type of product (i.e. 10% off laptops).

If issues persist once you’ve checked that you’ve met any necessary requirements, you can get in touch with our support team by emailing coupons.techradar@futurenet.com. Please provide as much detail about your issue as possible - including which code you used and where you found it - and we’ll be in touch to provide support as soon as we can.

How we make money

All the money TechRadar makes through its voucher pages is earned through a commission-based model. We have deals in place with every retailer that has a voucher page on our site, and every time someone makes a purchase using one of our codes, we earn a percentage of the total basket value back in commission.

Thanks to this model, we can offer all of our codes & discounts completely free of charge. You’ll never be asked to pay a fee to redeem an offer on our site - all you’ll pay is the discounted price of the products or services you’ve chosen to buy.

If you want to find out more about TechRadar’s voucher pages, you can visit our dedicated page on How We Source Voucher Codes and How to Use Them for more information.
