How much does IONOS cost?
How much you'll pay for an IONOS plan depends on the kind of plan you choose, how long you choose your plan for, any any current promotions, with prices dropping as low as $1 a month during certain sales.
Outside of promotions, IONOS sells domain names for as little as $1, whilst its web builder starts from $18 a month, its hosting can be as cheap as $10 per month, and its web design services can start from $45 (with $199 setup fees).
Promotions including your first 12 months free or sales periods can then discount these prices by as much as 95%, with monthly costs under $10 proving common. Keep an eye on this page for the latest sales and the lowest prices the brand currently offers.
Does IONOS support eCommerce sites?
Absolutely! Can I transfer an existing domain to IONOS?
Yes, if you already own a domain that's currently hosted by another provider, you can transfer it to IONOS, and the brand provides extensive guidance on how to do this on its site. However, this is a paid service, so you'll be charged at the checkout along with the IONOS plan you choose to start with.
Does IONOS offer SSL certificates?
Yes, IONOS' WordPress, web hosting, windows web hosting and website builder plans come with free SSL certificates as standard, plus the brand sells SSL certificates for customers who aren't looking to sign up for a plan. Prices start from around $38 per certificate outside of promotions.
Does IONOS offer templates?
Yes - whether its for your WordPress site or one you're creating through the brand's on website builder, IONOS has a range of templates to help make setting your site up or perfecting the design easier. You'll find a range of templates listed on the brand's site, with a selection available to access through the MyBuilder tool for those on site builder plans.
What can my IONOS personal consultant provide?
One of IONOS' USPs is that it offers of a free personal consultant to all customers, no matter their plan. Your personal consultant is a web expert able to give advice on all things online, from building and hosting your site to email hosting and marketing, eCommerce features and anything else the brand offers.
You'll be able to reach your consultant via phone, email or live chat (through the website or the app), and they can provide explanations of technical info, advice on strategies, reports on performance, recommendations of specific services, and support in the face of any issues you experience.
Is there an IONOS app?
The IONOS app is available to download for free for iOS and Android devices through the Apple App and Google Play stores, and gives customers access to a range of handy features to help manage their websites and plans.
Once you've downloaded the app, you'll be able to purchase and manage plans, view and manage your bills and contracts, track and triage site performance, review how your site is displayed, and even edit its layout if you're on a web builder plan.
You can also use the app to contact your personal consultant, making it easier to get professional support on the go, plus app users will see the occasional exclusive offer, giving you additional chances to save on new plans and features.
IONOS Saving tips
Choose the right plan
For many services IONOS, you'll find you're able to choose from a number of different tiers of plan when signing up, with more advanced tiers usually costing more per month and providing more features. For example, for its web hosting, IONOS offers four tiers: Essential, Starter, Plus and Ultimate.
Plus and Ultimate include unlimited storage and no limit on the number of websites and databases, with the maximum CPU & MEM resources assigned to Ultimate plans. However you might find that the 10 sites, 100GB storage and 50 databases afforded by the Starter plan are plenty to work with if you're an individual, or if you've only got one site and can make do with 10GB of storage and 10 databases, Essential may be all you need.
Make sure to double-check exactly what your current tier offers in terms of features, and if you find yourself wondering whether you'd use everything on offer, consider opting for a simpler alternative. Doing so can be up to 50% cheaper before factoring in promotions, and if you find yourself in need of more features at a later date, you can always upgrade.
Choose longer plans
Some IONOS plans are only offered for a set length of time (e.g. 1 year for web hosting), but for other services, you'll find that you can choose the duration of your plan. Wherever possible (outside of promotions), choose a longer plan - although you'll pay more upfront, it often works out cheaper in the long run.
For example, when signing up for the brand's website builder plans, you'll be able to pay month-to-month, every 12 months, every 24 months or every 36 months. As standard, paying per month will cost $24, whilst 1-year plans are charged at $20 a month, 2-year plans cost $19 per month, and 3-year plans come in at $18 a month, meaning you can save up to 25% by locking in long-term.
Watch for promotions
IONOS is no stranger to promotions, running a number of sales throughout the year and offering a wide range of savings to new customers to help you save when you join. It's not uncommon to see prices drop to as little as $1 for your first 12 months when you choose longer plans, or even for your first year to be included free, plus the brand regularly runs deals that discount selected tiers of plans by as much as 95% (versus paying monthly).

Whenever someone purchases a plan through your link, you'll earn between $3 and $300 as a thank you depending on the plan you've recommended.
For example, you can earn up to $45 for recommending WordPress services, up to $100 for recommending online marketing services, and up to $300 for recommending the brand's web design plans. The longer the plan your referee purchases, the more you'll earn, plus for every recommendation, IONOS will plant a tree in support of climate protection programs.

IONOS includes free domain names and professional email addresses with many of its plans, plus with the likes of the MyBuilder site builder, you'll also get free web hosting for up to 12 months, helping you save on the must-haves that go hand-in-hand with your chosen service.
