FAQs
Is LegalZoom free?
No, but the brand does offer a range of free resources to help you navigate your legal needs. These include guides written by experts & templates of legal documents. There is also a "free" option for LLC formation, labelled as basic, where the brand won't charge you for their service. However, you will still need to pay all applicable state fees.
How much does LegalZoom cost?
That depends on the service you're after, which tier of service you opt for, and any fees related to your specific case (such as state fees). LegalZoom offers a wide range of services covering wills, LLC & company formation, compliance, licensing, trademarking & copyright services, trusts, divorce proceedings, power of attorney, & real estate law, with pricing structures differing for each type of service.
For example, for LLC formation, you can choose Basic to pay nothing for the LLC formation process, but you will still need to pay associated state fees. If you also want LegalZoom to handle paperwork and include a 90-day bookkeeping service, you can choose Pro for $249 (+ fees). You can also choose Premium for $299 (+ fees) to add attorney consultations to the services included in Pro.
However, if you're looking at wills, the Basic plan, which covers your Last Will and Testament, a financial power of attorney, and a healthcare directive, costs $99 (or $199 for couples). If you want to add on unlimited revisions, attorney guidance & document review, and the option for 30-minute attorney consultations when new personal legal topics come up, you can opt for Pro for $249 (or $349 for couples).
Make sure to check the prices, different plan options, and any associated fees or additional services involved before you proceed to the checkout to know exactly what you may have to pay.
What is the LegalZoom refund policy?
Customers can request refunds on many of LegalZoom's products if they're not happy under the brand's quality guarantee. The returns period differs for different kinds of products: for services that require filing with government agencies (such as LLC and corporation formations), you have up to 60 days to request a refund as long as your documents have not been submitted to the agency in question.
Services that do not require filing (such as operating agreements & estate plans) are available to refund within 60 days so long as they haven't been completed. If your service has been completed, you will need to request a refund within 7 days of the date you are notified. For estate plans, this 7-day refund period starts after the first estate plan is completed.
For subscription services (such as Virtual Mail, Tax, Legal Plans & Forms, and Unlimited Estate Plan Revisions), you can request a refund of monthly subscription fees within 30 days of purchasing your plan. However, if your subscription is tied to a service that has completed, you will no longer be able to claim a refund. Separate fees for additional or extra services (e.g. shipping fees for Virtual Mail or tax prep for LZ Tax) are also non-refundable.
LegalZoom Saving tips
Look out for promotional deals
LegalZoom regularly offers promotional deals on select plans, with the likes of 20% off estate plans for make-a-will month, and other plans around Labor day or Black Friday. These deals tend to appear around key holidays, meaning certain times of year are worth watching for chances to save.
Choose annual plans
For Personal Legal Plans, which offer unlimited 30-minute attorney consultation calls on a range of legal topics, you'll have the choice of paying for a 6-month or year's subscription. Although you'll need to pay more upfront, choosing the 12-month option will cost you $16.59 per month (instead of $19.84 per month for the 6-month alternative), meaning a saving of around 15% on the year's fees.
Join the newsletter
You can join the LegalZoom newsletter by providing your email address through the brand's website to start receiving regular emails. These updates will contain info on products, plans & promotions, letting you keep up with any new services or chances to save as and when they're available.
How we source coupon codes
Whether it's through our affiliate networks, the depths of the world wide web, or our connections with big name brands, here at TechRadar we use every tool at our disposal to source the latest codes. Our coupons team updates each of our pages multiple times a week with the most recent deals, including exclusive coupons negotiated by our Commercial team. We also include the latest sales info directly from retailers to offer the most up-to-date discounts around.
How we test coupon codes
Each coupon you find on TechRadar has been tested before being uploaded by our dedicated Deals & Offers teams. You’ll see a range of offers, from free shipping to student discounts, with savings available on all kinds of products & services. To make sure every coupon is ready to use, we don’t list any user-specific or one-time codes.
We also include all relevant information about coupons, such as expiry dates and any terms & conditions, near the ‘Get Code’ button. You can see the details for an individual offer by clicking on the ‘Terms & Conditions’ text below the code and expanding the code area.
What to do if a coupon code doesn’t work
Although we do our best to ensure all listed codes are tried & tested, sometimes coupons expire or terms & conditions are changed before we can update pages. Our team works hard to make sure our coupons are active and work as intended, and should you encounter an issue when using one, we’ll work just as hard to help.
The best place to start is by checking the requirements. Click “View terms and conditions” to expand the code section and see any guidance on your chosen coupon. For example, you may need to meet a minimum spend, add other items to your basket to qualify for a multibuy offer, or confirm that your chosen code applies to the items in your basket (i.e. 10% off laptops).
If you’re still having issues using your code, you can email our customer service team on coupons.techradar@futurenet.com. Include as many details as possible - such as which code you used and which coupon page it’s listed on so our team can address your issue as fast as possible.
How we make money
When it comes to coupons, TechRadar earns money via a commission-based model. For every brand we have a coupon page for, we’ve negotiated a deal that means we earn a percentage of total basket value in commission back from every order.
Using this model means we can offer our coupons to our customers free of charge. You won’t pay any fees to add your chosen coupon to your basket - you’ll simply pay the final order total once your discount has been applied.
If you want to find out more about TechRadar’s coupons pages, you can visit our dedicated page on How We Source Coupon Codes and How to Use Them for more information.
