FAQs

Is Norton free?

No, but the brand regularly offers free trials on selected plans, such as 7-day trial periods on Norton 360, and a 30-day trial on antivirus. Trials let you test out the features of your chosen plan for a set period before you're charged so you can figure out if the service is right for you. If you like the service, just let the plan roll over after your trial period. If you aren't a fan, you can cancel before the 7 or 30 days are up and you won't pay a thing.

How much does Norton cost?

Prices for Norton plans will depend on the plan you choose and how long you take it out for. Customers can choose from a number of antivirus, privacy or all-in-one plans, available monthly or annually. The more features your plan includes, the more you'll pay, and you'll usually find that although monthly options offer greater flexibility, you'll pay more each month as a result.

You can find plans for as little as $2.49 a month (such as for the brand's VPN). Choosing an annual plan can be up to 50% cheaper, so if you know it's the right option for you, its worth going for this option instead. In most cases, Norton will automatically try and sign you up for an annual plan anyway, but watch out for price rises after your first year ends, as the brand is a big fan of first-year discounts for new customers.

Does Norton offers refunds?

Norton offers a 60-day money-back guarantee on annual plans, meaning customers can request a full refund within two months of their purchase if they're unhappy or change their mind. This applies to both new plans and automatic renewals. For monthly plans, the refund period is 14 days after the purchase date, and does not apply to automatic renewals.

Norton Saving tips

Watch out for sales

You'll see Norton running a number of seasonal sales throughout the year, with events around key holidays like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, as well as Labor Day and Memorial Day. Sales can discount plans by as much as 75% depending on the particular promotion, with the range of products you'll find deals on varying depending on how major the event is. Here at TechRadar, we keep a close eye on the latest offers and list them on this page whenever we find them, so check in for the latest ways to save.

Consider Norton 360

Norton 360 is the brand's suite of all-inclusive plans, which often combines antivirus and security software with the likes of the brand's VPN, cloud storage and theft protection. Choosing these bundles is generally cheaper than taking out individual plans for each service you want to sign up for, letting you save up to 20% on the cost, and you'll also find options for multiple users that offer much better value for money if you're signing up for your business or family too.

Get a student discount

If you're still studying, you can get up to 60% off selected Norton plans, usually including the likes of Norton 360, by verifying your status through Student Beans. Just sign in to or create an account to confirm your eligibility and you'll be sent a one-off code to add at the checkout before you order.

Sign up to the newsletter

If you want to keep up with the latest news from Norton, you can join the brand's newsletter to get regular updates on products and promotions direct to your inbox. You'll need to wait for the pop-up that appears when you're browsing the brand's site, then provide your chosen email address to join.

How we source coupon codes

Whether it's through our affiliate networks, the depths of the world wide web, or our connections with big name brands, here at TechRadar we use every tool at our disposal to source the latest codes.

Our coupons team updates each of our pages multiple times a week with the most recent deals, including exclusive coupons negotiated by our Commercial team. We also include the latest sales info directly from retailers to offer the most up-to-date discounts around.

How we test coupon codes

Each coupon you find on TechRadar has been tested before being uploaded by our dedicated Deals & Offers teams. You’ll see a range of offers, from free shipping to student discounts, with savings available on all kinds of products & services. To make sure every coupon is ready to use, we don’t list any user-specific or one-time codes.

We also include all relevant information about coupons, such as expiry dates and any terms & conditions, near the ‘Get Code’ button. You can see the details for an individual offer by clicking on the ‘Terms & Conditions’ text below the code and expanding the code area.

What to do if a coupon code doesn’t work

Although we do our best to ensure all listed codes are tried & tested, sometimes coupons expire or terms & conditions are changed before we can update pages. Our team works hard to make sure our coupons are active and work as intended, and should you encounter an issue when using one, we’ll work just as hard to help.

The best place to start is by checking the requirements. Click “View terms and conditions” to expand the code section and see any guidance on your chosen coupon. For example, you may need to meet a minimum spend, add other items to your basket to qualify for a multibuy offer, or confirm that your chosen code applies to the items in your basket (i.e. 10% off laptops).

If you’re still having issues using your code, you can email our customer service team on coupons.techradar@futurenet.com. Include as many details as possible - such as which code you used and which coupon page it’s listed on so our team can address your issue as fast as possible.

How we make money

When it comes to coupons, TechRadar earns money via a commission-based model. For every brand we have a coupon page for, we’ve negotiated a deal that means we earn a percentage of total basket value in commission back from every order.

Using this model means we can offer our coupons to our customers free of charge. You won’t pay any fees to add your chosen coupon to your basket - you’ll simply pay the final order total once your discount has been applied.
