In case you’ve been living under a rock these last few weeks, Apple has launched the AirPods Pro 3 as the latest model in its absurdly popular in-ear headphones series.

While they may be grabbing all the headlines right now (and deservedly so, if their fit is anything to go by), we still rate the AirPods Pro 2 as some of the best wireless earbuds available, and you can now grab them for AU$289 at Amazon, which is the lowest price we've previously seen. Compare that to the 3’s steep asking price of AU$429, and there’s no questions asked where value is concerned.

Apple AirPods Pro 2: was AU$399 now AU$289 at Amazon

Back to the previous all-time low, this is a great price for what is a talented set of in-ear headphones. Not only do they sound great and employ effective ANC, but they’ve been updated with plenty of new features since they launched, making them among the most talented buds on the market.

One of the biggest announcements to come from the AirPods Pro 3 unveiling was a new Live Translation feature that will, as the name suggests, translate foreign languages into your own on the fly. The good news is the feature isn’t exclusive to the Pro 3s – it's now available for the Pro 2s via a firmware update.

Other features the AirPods Pro 2 have gained since they launched include a new Voice Isolation feature that promises to improve call quality, and being able to simply nod your head (or shake it) to answer or reject an incoming phone call. And, if you own an Apple TV 4K, you can cast audio from it to the AirPods Pro 2, so you can watch whatever you want while blocking out the world around you.

Of course, all of this is only really relevant if you own an iPhone. As we said in our AirPods Pro 2 review, they’re not the best option for Android phone owners but we confirmed they “are excellent, immersive and beautifully-sounding buds” if you're embedded in the Apple ecosystem.

And to get a feature-packed set of buds at this price is excellent value.
