How much does an Audible plan cost?
Audible plans start from £5.99 with the brand's Standard plan, rising up to £8.99 a month for Premium Plus (or £69.99 a year if you opt for the annual version). Different tiers offer different benefits - for example, Standard allows you to access one title a month from a catalogue of over 900,000 titles, with titles remaining accessible as long as your plan continues.
If you want access to additional audiobooks and podcasts from the Plus catalogue, get discounts on purchases and a free title each month that you can keep for life, you'll need to opt for a Premium Plus plan. Depending on how long you plan to stay with the service, you can save in the long run, or get more books in a year for a very similar price, by opting for the annual plans (although you will need to pay more upfront).
Is there an Audible free trial?
Yes, users can get a 30-day free trial on selected Audible plans, namely the monthly Standard and Premium Plus plans. You can use your trial to test out the service's features and (depending on the plan you choose) navigate the full catalogue of audiobooks and podcasts. If you aren't keen to stay, cancel any time before the 30 days ends to avoid being charged. If you do decide to stick around, you'll automatically be charged for your chosen plan as soon as the 30-day trial period ends.
How do Audible credits work?
Unlike users on the Standard plan, Members on the Premium Plus tier are assigned credits each month (or in the case of annual plans, they are given a credit budget for the entire year at the start of their plan to spend however they like).
Credits can be used to purchase audiobooks outright, letting you keep titles even after you cancel. For users on monthly Premium Plus plans, credits roll over if you forget to spend them that month, with a limit of up to 5 credits able to roll over so you don't miss out on a chance to choose titles to keep.
Is there an Audible app?
Of course! The Audible app is free to download for Android and iOS through the Google Play and Apple App stores - although you will need a plan to be able to use any of its features - and allows you to use a range of handy features designed to make listening easy wherever you are.
As well as the usual play/pause and library navigation tools, users can set playback speeds to listen at their own pace, set timers that pause your audiobook once they've run out, activate car mode for simplified and enlarged controls (perfect for listening safely whilst driving), bookmark, rate and review titles, and even download titles to listen to offline.
What happens to my Audible library if I cancel?
Whether you keep your membership or cancel your plan, audiobooks you've purchased remain yours to access, regardless of whether you paid for them at the checkout with your own money or used credits included in your plan. Additionally, your one free Premium Plus title a month will remain accessible after you cancel (except if they are from the Plus catalogue). Any titles you are no longer able to access will be displayed next to a padlock icon, helping you see which titles you do and do not still have access to once you've cancelled.

Choose the right plan
This might seem like a no-brainer, but choosing the right plan for your needs is the first way to make sure you're getting the best value. Audible offers two basic plans: Standard and Premium Plus. Standard comes in at £5.99 a month and gives you access to one audiobook a month, whereas Premium Plus lets you access multiple audiobooks for £8.99 a month.
Although Premium Plus includes many handy perks, you can save a nifty £3 a month by sticking to Standard if you're only listening to one audiobook a month and can find all the titles you need in the limited Standard tier catalogue.
Save on purchases with Premium Plus
Having said that, there are some advantages to Premium Plus that can make it worth footing the extra cost, particularly if you like to buy and own your audiobooks. First of all, Premium Plus users also get to choose an audiobook each month, but they are given a credit each month to purchase their pick of titles, meaning they get to keep their chosen title even after they've cancelled their plan. This gives you the option to sign up for a few months to collect a few audiobooks, then keep your collection once you're done.
Second, as well as a monthly credit, Premium Plus also gives you discounts on selected audiobook titles, helping you save on the cost of buying new additions to your collection. If you're a frequent shopper, the savings can easily eclipse the extra £3 a month membership costs versus sticking to Standard.
Choose an annual plan
If you're picking Premium Plus, you can also opt for an annual plan to save in the long run. As with monthly plans, you will receive credits at the start of each billing cycle which can be used to purchase an audiobook. Credits can be used at any point during your plan, with the option to purchase another plan should you run out.
There are two annual plans on offer, and how many credits you get depends on the plan: 12 credits comes in at £69.99 a year, whilst 24 credits costs £109.99 a year. As standard, 12 months of paying monthly for Premium Plus will cost you £107.88 and grant you 12 credits, meaning the 12 credit plan annual offers all the same benefits at a 35% lower price, whilst the 24 credit plan offers double the number of audiobooks a year just over £2 extra.
Get extra with Prime
Audible offers a 30-day free trial to users just starting out with the service, but if you have an Amazon Prime account, you can get your choice of 2 audiobooks thrown in free during this trial period, giving you a little extra bang for your buck. simply sign in to an Amazon account that is currently subscribed to Prime, or create one and sign up, to get started.
Look out for sales
Regardless of the type of plan you're on, Audible runs regular sales on its audiobooks which can discount prices by as much as 85%, plus you'll also find the occasional 2 for the price of 1 offer on selected titles. Although Premium Plus members will be able to access more discounts on a more regular basis, even Standard users will still see frequent sales, including daily deals, monthly discounts and personalised recommendations to help them save.
How to use Audible discount codes
