An expanded field, the target on treble-winning Hull KR's back and the upcoming World Cup make this an exciting time to follow the Super League. After Salford's demise, relegation, liquidation and resurrection, RFL Championship winners Toulouse Olympique have earned a seat at the top table, along with League Leaders' Shield winners York Knights and Bradford Bulls.
It's the first time in 12 years that 14 teams have contested the Super League, and we're not shy of potential contenders. Leeds beat Hull KR twice during the regular season last year, and Leigh and Wigan bloodied their noses too. It's worth remembering that Bevan French led Wigan to an unprecedented quadruple in 2024, only for the Warriors to end up empty-handed a year later.
The start of the campaign is fraught with danger for Hull KR, who have a World Club Challenge date with reigning NRL champions Brisbane Broncos early doors, quickly followed by Rugby League Las Vegas. And their talisman Mikey Lewis took a hammering during England's humiliating defeat in the Rugby Ashes at the back-end of 2025, a series that's left the national team with a vacancy where the head coach should be.
Leeds' Man of Steel Jake Connor, on the other hand, was unsullied by the whitewash, and comes into the new season with his reputation at an all-time high. Can he help the Rhinos end their eight-year wait for a championship?
