- Test 2: Saturday, November 1 at 9.30am ET / 2.30pm GMT / 1.30am AEDT (Sun)
The Rugby League Ashes series 22 years in the making could be done and dusted in the shortest possible time. Kangaroos debutants Reece Walsh and Mark Nawaqanitawase annihilated England in the opener, gaining 236m and 216m respectively, and it's not just that England need to win Test 2 to keep the series alive – it's that last weekend's 6-26 scoreline could have been so much worse.
Staging the opener in London, which holds rugby league in contempt, was a terrible move by the RFL, but as much as the shift up north to Everton's new Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool is a welcome one, all evidence suggests it's going to take more than a supportive crowd to bridge the gap.
Although fans won't forgive Shaun Wane's bewildering decision to leave reigning Super League Man of Steel Jake Connor out of his squad anytime soon, especially given the nightmare that Jack Welsby endured last weekend, he has rung in the changes. Amongst those to drop out for Test 2 are indeed Welsby, as well as Ethan Havard and John Bateman. Harry Smith, Morgan Smithies and debutant AJ Brimson come in.
Australia head coach Kevin Walters' one change is an enforced one. Skipper Isaah Yeo failed a head injury assessment in the week, after suffering a concussion in an early collision with Dom Young, so Lindsay Collins steps in, with Harry Grant taking the armband.
