Gymnasts Zhang Boheng, Carlos Yulo and Zou Jingyuan, badminton stars An Se-young, PV Sindhu and Yamaguchi Akane, diver Quan Hongchan and the Indian men's and women's cricket teams are also set to light up the games. Then there's Sri Lankan world No1 javelin thrower Pathirage, who must contend with his spears being damaged in transit.

The viral South Korean shooter Kim Ye-ji, sadly, is not competing, while tennis star Qinwen Zheng has opted to play in the China Open instead, leaving Eala as the biggest name in the draw.

Along with many of the events you'd expect to see, there's also eSports, kabaddi and the incomparable sepak takraw on the Asian Games program.
