Watch Czechia vs Ireland FREE live streams to find out who will advance to the playoff final and remain in with a chance of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Runners-up in 1934 and 1962, Czechia are aiming to reach the World Cup for the 10th time after finishing second in Group L, six points behind Croatia. It was a disappointing qualifying campaign for the Czechs, with the low point being October's 2-1 defeat by minnows the Faroe Islands, a result that resulted in Ivan Hasek's sacking as manager.
Veteran coach Miroslav Koubek has since taken the reins and has named an experienced squad for the vital play-off game. The 74-year-old has persuaded in-form midfielder Vladimír Darida, 35, out of retirement, while Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick is fit, with a late call to be made on Lyon attacker Pavel Šulc.
Ireland, meanwhile, are hoping to carry the momentum that a seemingly impossible playoff spot in the most dramatic fashion. Heimir Hallgrímsson's side followed up a 2-0 win over Portugal with a 3-2 victory against Hungary that kept their World Cup dreams alive.
Troy Parrott was the hero in Budapest as he scored twice in the final 10 minutes, including a 96th-minute winner, to complete a remarkable hat-trick. The 24-year-old AZ Alkmaar striker is set to lead the line once again and could be supported by Sammie Szmodics, who returned to the squad after missing the previous international break through injury.
The winner faces Denmark or North Macedonia in Tuesday's playoff final.
