This five-star fitness watch is a phenomenal buy at full price – and it's just been hit with a 45% discount for Prime Day
The Garmin Forerunner 955 for AU$549 is a runners dream

If you're into health and fitness, chances are you've experienced the conundrum of figuring out which smartwatch or fitness tracker is right for you. Well, if you’re a runner Amazon's Prime Day sale is looking to make that decision easy with a 45% discount on the excellent Garmin Forerunner 955.
Bringing it down to just AU$549, that’s only AU$50 off the lowest price we've ever seen since its 2022 release. A truly fantastic smartwatch, the 955 is perfect for running experts and novices alike at this price, providing valuable insights into your training – with metrics like heart rate, calories burned and pace – while motivating you to improve.
With a 15-day battery life, you don't have to worry about this watch keeping up with your routine and you won't need to bring your phone along on a run to listen to some tunes either, as it can hold as many as 2,000 songs. There's just something about the summer weather that makes going for a run more attractive, but a quality fitness watch can help keep you motivated through the colder months too.
Our running-tech expert called the 955 "the best running watch ever" when he strapped it on his wrist three years ago. And while the newer Forerunner 570 may have replaced it in our guide to the best Garmin, our original five-star rating in our Garmin Forerunner 955 Solar review still stands. And with this deal, it comes in significantly cheaper than its newer sibling, making it a great pickup.
The 955 delivers GPS, coaching plans, music and route maps with the ability to handle smartwatch notification services as well as workout-specific tools. And while we think it's a runner's best friend, it's equally as suitable to athletes who take part in events like triathlons as well as outdoor adventurers.
It also looks good, while retaining a rugged and durable feel. It tracks your metrics accurately and packages that information in a way that's both easily viewable and actually useful for improving your health and fitness.
Its GPS tools are likewise excellent – able to warn you of upcoming inclines, for example, and help you navigate through adventures off the beaten track, all with full-color maps and turn-by-turn navigation. This is supported by Garmin's multi-band GNSS abilities, which the Forerunner can access for pinpoint accuracy.
While the model we reviewed had additional solar-charging functionality, this version’s 15-day battery life makes it a fantastic all-round fitness wearable. It offers a great balance of price, features and performance – even at its original price point. So at 45% off, it’s even easier to recommend.
