Black Friday has wrapped up for 2024! The major sales event brought huge price drops on smartphones from Apple, Samsung, Google and other major brands – but even though the Cyber Monday (the typical ending of the 'Black Friday' sales period) has finished, you can still grab a bargain on a new phone. We've spotted 15 phone deals continuing after Black Friday that are well worth picking up.

Across these discounts, you could save quite a lot of money on a 2024 Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel handset, along with new and old phones from other manufactures like Nothing and Motorola. When it comes to Apple smartphones however, older iPhones received the bulk of price cuts – though there are still attractive discounts available for the iPhone 16 range (just not as generous as discounts on major phones from other brands).

Amazon's Black Friday sales lead the charge on most tech, gadget and appliance deals throughout Black Friday, though JB Hi-Fi and Aussie telcos are offering some welcome price cuts.

These phone discounts are likely to not stick around for too long now that Black Friday is officially over, so if you want a new handset, it's still a good opportunity to buy.

Though the iPhone 14 Plus is now two generations old, don't be too worried about ongoing software support. The iPhone 14 Plus is expected to be supported until 2029, making it a fairly decent purchase if you want a large phone with a nice screen without spending too much. The 128GB model is currently discounted by the most, though the Yellow model isn't much more expensive at AU$1,249.

Save AU$130

The iPhone 13 is expected to be supported until 2028, and although it's now three generations old, it's a welcome option as an entry-point and affordable way to get into the Apple ecosystem. The cameras and display may seem a little dated compared to newer iPhones, and perhaps you'll have Dynamic Island envy, but it's a nice price that's only just above the cost of a new iPhone SE at AU$719.

Google Pixel phones

Google Pixel 9 (128GB, Black)
Google Pixel 9 (128GB, Black): was AU$1,349 now AU$999 at Kogan

Google's cheapest Pixel 9 option is a very competent phone that offers brilliant camera performance and the company's suite of AI-powered features (including the very cool Magic Eraser). It's powered by the same Tensor G4 chip that's in the Pro models, and though the screen is slightly lower spec, it's still gorgeous. Note that to get this discount you'll need to be a Kogan First member – otherwise the price is still lowered to AU$1,019, though it'd be a shame to miss out on such a saving.

Also available for AU$1,047 from JB Hi-Fi and AU$1,049 from the Google Store.

Note: this is an import of an international model.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE(128GB): was AU$1,098 now AU$598.32 (plus plan costs) at Optus
Save AU$500.40

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE was released October 2024 as a cheap entry-point to the Galaxy S24 range of devices, featuring the brand's Galaxy AI suite of features and a gorgeous sharp display. In TechRadar's review of the device, we loved its long battery life, strong performance and gorgeous display, though we thought that the iPhone-like design probably won't be a winner for everyone and that some of the phone's best features are hidden away. With this Optus deal, you'll need to sign up for an eligible plan over a 24-month or 36-month period to activate the monthly saving. Plan costs start at AU$52 per month.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE 5G (128GB)

For such a competent phone that brings the best of the S24 range to a cheaper price point, this is a deal that shouldn't be missed. Available in Graphite, Mint and Blue.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 (256GB)
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 (256GB): was AU$1,799 now AU$1,430 at Amazon

Save AU$369

Getting 21% off the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is a welcome discount. A smartphone with a unique form factor, thanks to its classic flip-phone folding mechanism, its back screen and tall profile, this is a device to buy if you want your daily handset to have some style. Mint and Blue colourways are currently discounted, though Silver Shadow and Yellow are slightly more expensive.

Motorola Moto G85 (128GB, Cobalt Blue)
Motorola Moto G85 (128GB, Cobalt Blue): was AU$399 now AU$298 at Amazon

Save AU$101

While we haven't tested the Motorola Moto G85, the phone has received positive reviews online for its performance (both internally and for taking photos) at a low price point – and with such a big saving, it's a very attractive budget phone.

Nokia X30 5G 256GB
Nokia X30 5G 256GB: was AU$899 now AU$499 at JB Hi-Fi

Save AU$400

One of Nokia's higher-end smartphones, the X30 5G 256GB received great reviews online for its nice display and stylish design. The X30 5G is just over half price with this deal at JB Hi-Fi, but if you're after better performance, it's certainly worth comparing the X30 to its competition. For AU$450 though, the X30 is a solid phone.

When will the best Black Friday phone deals start in 2024?

Black Friday deals officially began on midnight (12am) AEDT on Friday, November 29, 2024, though many retailers started putting deals up early in the lead-up to Black Friday, including Amazon and JB Hi-Fi. That being said, the best deals are typically reserved for the official Black Friday weekend, which will run through to Cyber Monday on December 2.

Where will the best Cyber Monday phone deals be?

What Black Friday phone deals do we expect to see in 2024?

For Black Friday phone deal hunters, there is good news and bad news. The good news is that there are plenty of deals, and almost every phone you can imagine has gone on sale somewhere.

But if you're an iPhone fan, you may be disappointed, as Apple devices haven't seen the same major price drops as Android rivals. In fact, the best deals you'll find will likely be part of a contract agreement, but if you were already shopping for service, you could absolutely score a bargain. This said, older iPhones tend to get nice price drops, attractive if you don't care about having the latest and greatest device.

Smaller phone makers like Motorola are more likely to offer discounts than Apple, which just launched a new phone range, and Samsung, which keeps price drops reserved to a few devices. Google has also been known to drop the price on Pixel phones for Black Friday in the past. Third-party retailers will be a good bet too, including The Good Guys and JB Hi-Fi.
