Well ok, perhaps you're not going to forget about the iPod. But you're reading this now, right? One thing's for sure, opinion is certainly divided in the Tech.co.uk office over the new 80GB Zune. I quite like it, but I get the feeling the boss would rather be doing a website about knitting rather than buy one.
But we're a bit spoilt for MP3 players at the moment though, as not only has the iPod touch finally turned up, but James has just taken delivery of the new 4GB Creative Zen (yes, just 'Zen'), which he'll be reviewing soon.
But it's the Zune that's the most interesting for me - I saw an iPhone ages ago, so why should the iPod touch impress me? The Zune not only looks snazzy, but it packs in some impressive stuff. The screen is only slightly smaller than that on the iPod touch. And, most impressively, you can sync your tunes and movies over Wi-Fi - eat that Apple.
Trouble is though, Microsoft isn't exactly down with the cool kids - Gates compared the pioneering Microsoft Office to the supposed revolution brought about by the Zune at the launch of the second gen player. Added to that, Microsoft's UK representatives are absolutely clueless as to when (or indeed if) the Zune will arrive in the UK. And Apple's multi-touch tech has to be touched to be believed.
Still, if I decide to, I could always buy one when I go to the US for CES. At today's exchange rate it'll only cost me the same as a bad night in Vegas.
