Come on! Of course we know the next generation of hardware is in development (anyone seen any good Xbox 720 rumours?) and only an utter fool would express any kind of shock or excitement that Nintendo was rumoured to be working on future Mario and Zelda games.
The fact is that technology in all industries improves incrementally, slowly and – for reasons of basic capitalistic competition purposes – secretly. Sure, sometimes there's a major disruption in the way things are done. Arguably, for this generation of games hardware, that was the Wii. However, it's simply not possible or economically viable to have a (Nintendo) revolution every year, despite how much the fanboys want to dream one up.
By the way, did you hear the one about the SEGA Dreamcast 2 yet? It's apparently in development in Japan. An 'industry source' just told me. And that's EXCLUSIVE.
