Regularreaders of this blog will know how attached I was to my 6Gb SanDisk Sansa MP3player. It was beautiful, perfect, refined... So it is with deep regret and anoverwhelming sense of painful injustice that I have to inform you that my SansaMP3 player... is dead.
Whilstpacking my bags to head off to CeBIT in Germany later today, I noticed the corpseof my Sansa resting peacefully on the carpet.
Rigor mortis clearly having setin many hours previously, it had been crushed to death; screen cracked, withLCD fluid bleeding from fatal wounds all down its right side. I fear myoversized feet must have inadvertently squeezed the life out of it when I wasdoing my laundry last night.
Andso, it is an ex-Sansa. It has ceased to be. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. It has kicked the bucket, hopped the twig, bit the dust, snuffed it, played itslast MP3, and gone to meet the great head of portable audio in the sky.
Iwill miss you, Mr. Sansa. Your joy for life transmittedwherever you took your shiny colour screen, and the sparkle of thatunforgettable on/off button will live with me forever.
Above all I give thanksfor the life of an MP3 player I was so proud to call my own; the unique, thecomplex, the extraordinary and irreplaceable Sansa e270, whose beauty, bothinternal and external, will never be extinguished from my mind.
We gather in the confines of this short blog to mourn and togive thanks; it is a fitting place to do so. And, oh by God yes, it seems to me, my Sansa lived its life like an iPod inthe wind. The screen never fading with the sunset, when the batteries ran out. Andmusical beats will always fall here along England's greenest hills. Its candle'sburned out long before, its legend ever will.
Some men see things as theyare and say "Why?"
My Sansa dreamt things thatnever were and said "Why Not?"
