  • 1st Test: 14-18 November, daily start times: 11pm ET / 4am GMT / 2pm AEST

The Ashes may be on the horizon, but this test series is just as intriguing. A part of the World Test Championship, reigning champions South Africa currently sit fourth in the table, one spot below India as they face each other across two matches.

Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj are expected to trouble the Proteas’ batters with their pace, while the spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav could prove difficult to contend with.

South Africa’s captain, Temba Bavuma, also returns for this tour after a calf injury ruled him out of the recent series in Pakistan. Under Aiden Markram’s leadership, South Africa drew that two-match series, losing the first Test by 93 runs but winning the second by eight wickets.

"We’ve kept the bulk of the squad that competed in the two-match series against Pakistan," said coach Shukri Conrad. "Those players showed real character and fought hard to come from behind and draw that series. We are anticipating a similar challenge in India, and many of the players who stood up in those conditions will once again be key."
