Real Sociedad vs RB Salzburg preview

Real Sociedad have already qualified for the knockout stages of this season's Champions League, but that doesn't mean there's nothing to play for here in San Sebastián tonight.

The Basque side lead last year's beaten finalists Inter only on goal difference, so top spot in Group D – and the chance of a better draw in the knockouts – won't be decided until the pair meet in Milan next month. La Real will want to maintain their unbeaten record, though, so head coach Imanol Alguacil will expect standards to remain high here tonight. His side have also enjoyed a strong La Liga campaign so far, with a number of young players earning call-ups to the Spanish national team as a result.

With just one win and three defeats from their first four games, RB Salzburg cannot finish higher than third in Group D, but they still need to secure that position to go through to the Europa League playoffs. With Benfica just three points behind them, albeit with an inferior goal difference, a point here would be enough to guarantee that as the bottom two play each other in the final round of fixtures in December.

Here's how the teams line up:

Real Sociedad: Remiro (GK); Odriozola, Elustondo, Zubeldia, Munoz; Mendez, Zubimendi, Terrientes; Oyarzabal, Cho, Zakharyan.

RB Salzburg: Schlager (GK); Ulmer, Pavlovic, Platkowski, Dedic; Capaldo, Gloukh, Bidstrup, Sucic; Ratkov, Nene.

It’s going to be an enthralling encounter in northern Spain, with two exciting teams going head-to-head. Read on as we explain how you can get a Real Sociedad vs RB Salzburg live stream wherever you are, and watch the Champions League online.
