Samsung has great options for a variety of budgets, and the Samsung Galaxy A56 is one of the best cheap phones on the market. However, if you're looking for a truly premium phone at less-than-premium prices, the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE should be at the top of your considerations.

It doesn't match the power or display offerings of the newer Samsung Galaxy S25, but the gap between the Galaxy S24 and the S24 FE isn't massive – in specs or price. It supports Galaxy AI and provides a similar experience to the S24, with a larger 6.7-inch screen. The only drawbacks of the cheaper device are lower-res telephoto and selfie cameras, and a less durable screen.

That makes the S24 FE a fantastic handset in its own right. At just AU$1,099, buying it outright and pairing it with one of our best SIM-only plans is more affordable than it would be with other smartphones.

It's still a pricey prospect, though, which is why grabbing the best offering from Vodafone, Optus or Telstra and paying it off over a long-term contract is a great option. Finding the best plans can be laborious, so it's lucky that all you have to do is scroll down. We've accounted for those looking for the most affordable plan and one that offers more data.

Best Samsung Galaxy S24 FE plans: our picks

Best overall plan

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE (128GB) | 100GB data | 24 months | AU$72.29 p/m

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE (128GB) | 100GB data | 24 months | AU$72.29 p/m (for 12 months, then 82.29)

Previously, Optus had been offering the best plan on the Galaxy S24 FE – providing just 50GB of data for more than AU$79 p/m. With this Vodafone plan, you'll get both doubled data and a AU$10 discount on the first 12 months of your contract – bringing the price way down and getting you 100GB of monthly data.

Total cost over 24 months is AU$1,854.96

Best premium plan

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE (128GB) | 360GB data | 24 months | AU$82.29 p/m

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE (128GB) | 360GB data | 24 months | AU$82.29 p/m (for 12 months, then 92.29)

Thanks to its AU$10 discount across all plans, Vodafone is the choice for those who need more data to go with the S24 FE, too. We've opted for the medium plan, which now offers a massive 360GB of data for just AU$49 p/m over the first 12 months, but the large plan provides a whopping 720GB. Either way though, you're getting a fantastic plan with great coverage and fast speeds.

Total cost over 24 months is AU$2,094.96

The Samsung FE line of phones – and tablets – sit in a strange mid-spot that makes them neither a budget phone, nor a Flagship device. That in and of itself isn't the weird part. Apple's upcoming iPhone SE 4 will fill a similar hole, as does Google's Pixel A series.

It's worthy of note when it comes to Samsung because, unlike the other two, Samsung offers true budget devices to go with its Flagship Galaxy S phones – starting with the impressive Samsung Galaxy A56, all the down to the dirt-cheap Galaxy A05s.

We're not complaining, though. More options is only a good thing for customers, and for those looking for a seriously good phone at around the AU$1,000 mark, the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is a fantastic option.

In our Samsung Galaxy S24 FE review, we called it a "a great phone in its own right", not just a cheaper S24, with small sacrifices to its power and camera quality that are well worth the savings.

You get plenty of flagship functions too, like a full suite of Galaxy AI features – getting the best features sported by the best Samsung phones – a beautiful display and incredible battery life. In fact, the S24 FE's display is a significant 0.6 inches larger than the Galaxy S24.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE hits the right notes in all the important areas. It's got a sleek, iPhone-like design with a beautiful, low-key trio of colours options. And, while the display might not be the sharpest in the tools shed, the colours and details still pop on its peak 1900 nit brightness display.

It still performs fantastically, too – even if it doesn't quite match the processing power of the Samsung Galaxy S24. Power-hungry activities like video calls and AI features. are a breeze, and the combination of a lower-power processor and higher battery capacity means the Galaxy S24 FE lives longer than the standard Galaxy S24. At a starting price of AU$1,099, it's a very, very impressive smartphone.
