You may soon be able to buy your own 3D-compatible glasses from designer brands.
Michael Lewis, the chief of market-leading 3D system provider RealD, has hinted that branded designer 3D glasses are being fast-tracked in a bid to address concerns about the generally unseemly nature of 3D eyewear.
Responding to a comment made by Fox Sports chairman David Hill ( 'I have two teenaged girls and they don't want to go on dates looking like they're going to do some spot welding') at the 3D Entertainment Summit in LA, Lewis revealed that designer 3D glasses from Gucci would be on sale before James Cameron's Avatar hits cinemas worldwide in December.
Lewis has also suggested that Prescription 3D spex are likely at some point in the near future.
The latter development would benefit a huge percentage of the potential domestic audience who will most likely dismiss the prospect of balancing a pair of traditional 3D glasses atop their own spectacles, when systems launch during 2010.
