The best OnePlus phones are among the best Android phones money can buy, not least because they offer a unique combination of style and high-end specs.

OnePlus flagships were historically positioned as more affordable alternatives to flashier, more mainstream devices from the likes of Apple and Samsung (read: they were some of the best cheap phones), but in 2025, the best OnePlus phones rival – and in some cases surpass – even the best phones on the market.

The OnePlus 15 is indisputably the best OnePlus phone ever made, and it's among the best Android phones money can buy, period.

We described the OnePlus 15 as "better than perfect" in our OnePlus 15 review, and for good reason. This well-designed, super durable flagship boasts an incredibly powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, an industry-leading 7,300mAh battery, and an incredibly bright 6.78-inch OLED display that can top out at 165Hz.

When it comes to photography, the phone offers a trio of 50MP cameras that excel in the selfie, portrait, and action shot departments – it's among the best camera phones for fast-motion photography, and you won't be disappointed by its wide and telephoto capabilities (even if something like the iPhone 17 Pro Max is a better do-it-all camera phone).

Rival devices like the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL also benefit from agentic AI features that OnePlus just can't match yet, but the OnePlus 15 can, instead, be thought of as a no-nonsense alternative to its flashier, software-driven competition.

Chief among the phone's hardware specs is that aforementioned 7,300mAh battery, which blows the competition out of the water and will net you up to three days (yes, three days) of battery life. And, perhaps best of all, OnePlus doesn't ask that you pay more for an Ultra or Pro version.

So, if you can afford it, the OnePlus 15 is a worthy flagship choice, and it's far and away the best OnePlus phone money can buy.

Disclaimer: The OnePlus 15R is expected to ship before the end of 2025, so if you're considering the 13R, we'd suggest waiting for our full verdict on the newer model before committing to OnePlus' current-gen handset.

As good as the top-of-the-line OnePlus 13 is, its R-branded sibling, the OnePlus 13R, is an equally appealing choice if you value strong performance and battery life over flagship-level features like extended optical zoom, proper water resistance, and wireless charging. At just $599 / £679 / AU$999, the OnePlus 13R is significantly cheaper, too, making it the best-value OnePlus phone.

In our testing of the device, the OnePlus 13R managed two days of average use on a single charge, and you won't need to switch to a battery-saving mode to achieve that figure. When paired with the phone's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset – which also powers the mighty Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra – this impressive endurance makes the OnePlus 13R feel like a genuinely flagship-grade performer.

The OnePlus 13R does, of course, lose out on many of the OnePlus 13's best camera features – its ultra-wide lens, for instance, is just 8MP – but you still get three sensors to choose from, and the phone's 50MP main camera delivers great images in a variety of lighting conditions.

Other positives include an outstanding 6.78-inch display and OnePlus 13-equaling software, so if you're after a hard-working, everyday phone with that signature OnePlus flavor, the OnePlus 13 is a great, cost-effective option.

The best budget OnePlus phone

The OnePlus Nord 5 lying on a brick wall.

The best budget OnePlus phone

Specifications

Release date: July 2025
Weight: 211g
Dimensions: 163.4 x 77 x 8.1mm
OS: Android 15, OxygenOS 15
Screen size: 6.83 inches
Resolution: 1272 x 2800
CPU: Snapdragon 8s Gen 3
RAM: 8GB / 12GB
Storage: 256GB / 512GB
Battery: 5,200mAh
Rear camera: 50MP + 8MP
Front camera: 50MP

Reasons to buy

+
Powerful processor
+
Attractive screen
+
Lower start price

Reasons to avoid

-
Boring design
-
Unimpressive cameras
-
Certain key downgrades

The first thing to note about the OnePlus Nord 5 is that, like other Nord-branded OnePlus phones, it's not available globally. At the time of writing, this £399 mid-ranger is only available in the UK, so budget-conscious US readers should instead turn their attention to something like the OnePlus 13R, which will now be much cheaper than it was at launch.

We've chosen the OnePlus Nord 5 as the 'best budget OnePlus phone' because it's indisputably the best OnePlus phone under £500. For starters, it's got a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, which might not sound flashy, but when paired with up to 12GB of RAM, it carries the phone to near-flagship levels of performance (as we noted in our OnePlus Nord 5 review, this phone "gives budget gamers all they could ask for").

Other key features of the phone include a long-lasting 5,200mAh battery and a gorgeous 6.74-inch AMOLED display that – thanks to OnePlus' neat Aqua Touch technology – can be used even with wet hands.

What are the downsides? Well, the Nord 5's 50MP main and 8MP ultra-wide cameras aren't anything to write home about, but in the £300-£400 price range, you can't expect the world. This is also not the outright cheapest OnePlus phone on the block – if you're really strapped for cash, check out the cheaper OnePlus Nord CE5.

Overall, though, we still think the Nord 5 is the best use of your money if you've got a mid-range budget to spend on a decent OnePlus phone.

Storage: 512GB
Battery: 4,805mAh
Rear camera: 48MP + 64MP + 48MP
Front camera: 20MP + 32MP

Reasons to buy

+
Perfect outer display size
+
Great cameras (for a foldable)
+
Excellent design and color choices

Reasons to avoid

-
Not very durable
-
No stylus support
-
Not as many features as a Samsung

Despite its age, the OnePlus Open is still one of the best foldable phones money can buy, and it's now more affordable than ever (at least compared to outrageously expensive foldables like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7).

At its launch in 2023, the Open boasted the best cameras of any foldable, as well as the most well-proportioned design of any inward-folding phone. The Open also packed bigger displays (7.82-inch / 6.31-inch) than both the Google Pixel Fold and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, and both panels were bright and crisp enough to replace your current flagship phone's display, making it a great option for first-time folders.

All of those things are still true – it's just that newer foldables from Samsung, Google, and Honor are thinner, faster, and have slightly better cameras. But as a relatively accessible entry point into the foldable market, the Open remains a device that we're happy to recommend, especially as OnePlus won't be releasing the OnePlus Open 2, or any other foldable device, anytime soon.

If you're after something even more eye-catching, OnePlus also sells the OnePlus Open Apex Edition, a Crimson Red version of the OnePlus Open with enhanced storage, AI image editing tools, and some useful security features.

FAQs

How to choose the best OnePlus phone for you

To find the best OnePlus phone to suit your needs, you'll need to decide what your needs are. Do you value cameras or battery life? Do you need a strong performer or something to make heads turn? The best OnePlus phones combine several great features, but no device offers everything without compromise.

The next question you need to ask yourself is: how much are you willing to spend? In the above guide, we've included phones for every price range, so once you've narrowed down your 'must-haves', you'll be able to find a phone that aligns with your budget.

The best OnePlus phones (think the OnePlus 15) offer great features at a high price, but they're not the best choice for every buyer. The mid-range OnePlus Nord 5, for instance, is a great option for those who need a hard-working, reliable everyday phone, while the even cheaper OnePlus Nord CE5 offers a smattering of decent features at the expense of bells and whistles.

How we test

To come up with this list of the best OnePlus phones, we put every model through our thorough review process, using each phone as our daily driver – taking calls, streaming movies, playing games, and so on – for a week or more.

Our review process also includes standardized battery and chipset testing, as well as extensive photography sampling. We then consider these results against other metrics like price and availability to come up with a star rating and a definitive verdict for each OnePlus phone.

Using all of the above information, we've ranked the best OnePlus phones by budget and use case, ultimately forming this comprehensive guide to the best OnePlus phones. As more OnePlus phones are released, we'll review them and consider them for inclusion in this buying guide.
