A week later than the other 2025/26 Carabao Cup 25/26 quarter-finals, due to Crystal Palace's fixture congestion, Arsenal face Oliver Glasner's men for a spot in the last four of the competition. This is the Eagles' fourth game in 10 days amid a deepening injury crisis, but defying impossible odds has become par for the course for these plucky underdogs.

Palace gave as good as they got when the teams met in the league two months ago, so it was doubly infuriating that a scuffed Eberechi Eze effort ended up deciding the game. The artful dodger has found minutes difficult to come by since his £67.5m move from South to North London, as Mikel Arteta seems to prefer Martin Odegaard and Mikel Merino at No.10 role, and Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli and even Noni Madueke out wide. But when called upon he's produced big moments.

With Ismaila Sarr at AFCON 2025/26, Daniel Munoz and Daichi Kamada injured and Jean-Philippe Mateta hampered by a knee issue, Glasner will be hoping that Eddie Nketiah can step up and do to Arsenal what Eze did to them. The 26-year-old has only scored four times this season, but one of those was huge, a last-gasp winner against Liverpool.

However, the 4-1 defeat by Leeds at the weekend – and the manner of it – was concerning. Two of the goals came from long throws and the other two from set-pieces, which form the bedrock of Arsenal's approach.
