BT offers 'free' YouView box with Infinity broadband

But it's not free really, is it

If the £300 price tag is putting you off snagging a YouView IPTV box, you may want to sign up to BT Infinity and grab one for free.

Well, BT says free, but the Humax box will still cost you £50 in activation fees and £7 delivery as well as your new Infinity package which starts at about £18 a month.

BT Infinity is the company's super-fast fibre broadband offering; you'll need some kind of internet connection to make use of YouView anyway, given that it delivers all its BBC, Channel 4, ITV and Channel 5 televisual goodness through the internet.

If you're not in an Infinity area, you won't miss out on the deal – you can get the YouView hardware for 'free' on a BT Broadband and BT Vision Essential account which is £5 per month for a minimum of 12 months.

You can't get the hardware just yet but anyone who registers their interest now will be first in the exclusive earlybird queue to place an order between October 19 and 26.

Existing customers can upgrade to YouView for £49 plus a £7 delivery fee, which is still substantially cheaper than the £299 that the Humax STR-T1000 will set you back on its own.
