Last year we covered several ‘free laptop’ offers when you signed up to a broadband contract. And it appears they’re still one of the most popular things we’ve covered on the site. My original Free laptops at Carphone Warehouse with AOL story still seems to be getting quite a bit of attention even though the offer has now changed.

An HP laptop is now offered even though the £19.99 per month contract hasn’t changed.

Not long after the original offer was made I wrote this blog about how I wasn’t surprised. And I’m still not. As I originally said, a cheap laptop isn’t that much (if at all) more expensive to subsidise than a top-end mobile. I expect more of these offers to float out as broadband competition increases.
