India vs New Zealand: preview

India vs New Zealand is another heavyweight matchup at the Cricket World Cup. Making it even more exciting is the fact both these sides are unbeaten in the tournament so far.

The hosts won the toss and chose to bowl. They have been set a target of 274, largely due to the efforts of Daryl Mitchell, who scored 130 from 127 deliveries. Rachin Ravindra also continues to impress, scoring 75 from 87. Both Kiwi batters were eventually dismissed by Mohammad Shami, who was the pick of the bowlers. He claimed 5 wickets at the cost of 54 runs on his return to the side. This could be a thrilling run chase.

New Zealand have been excellent during the competition. They dominated England in their tournament opener and haven’t really let up since. However, facing the hosts is undoubtedly the biggest test for the Black Caps since that first match. Mitch Santner has been devastating with the ball in hand, picking up 11 wickets so far.

India have beaten both Australia and Pakistan so far, showing why they are one of the favourites to win the tournament on home turf. In skipper Rohit Sharma and the legendary Virat Kohli they have two of the world’s great batters. The pair have scored 265 and 259 runs respectively so far at this tournament, underlining the challenge their opponents face when bowling.

Here's how they line up:

India: Rohit Sharma (capt), Shubman Gill,  Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk),  Ravindra Jadeja, Suryakumar Yadav, Mohammed Shami,  Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj

New Zealand: Devon Conway, Will Young, Rachin Ravindra, Tom Latham (capt & wk), Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult
