They're on the trail of Hank (Kyle MacLachlan), Lucy's father, who escaped to New Vegas with stolen Brotherhood of Steel power armor after being unmasked as a former executive at Vault-Tec, the corporation that instigated the apocalyptic nuclear war in its lust for an ever greater share of control.
The revelation prompted an explosive disclosure in turn from the Ghoul: his wife Barb (Frances Turner) was one of Vault-Tec's top power-brokers.
On their quest they'll have run-ins with the various factions warring for control over the Mojave, including the New California Republic (NCR), Caesar’s Legion, the Kings – who have been reimagined as Elvis-impersonating Ghouls – as well as the wasteland's various delightful creatures, such as radscorpions and stingwings. Season 2 will also grant a proper introduction to Mr House (Justin Theroux), the ruler of New Vegas. Lucy and the Ghoul may need to think creatively to evade capture.
Kumail Nanjiani and Macaulay Culkin's characters suggest civil war in both the Brotherhood of Steel and Caesar’s Legion ranks, while Maximus (Aaron Moten) makes his mark with the aid of a mysterious cold‑fusion device.
The show itself is Fallout canon, but in order to avoid endorsing any particular ending as canon, season 2 is set 15 years after Fallout: New Vegas, and hints at every possible outcome.
