The Copa del Rey final 2026 live streams, Atletico Madrid vs Real Sociedad, have a real sense of occasion – with no Barcelona or Real Madrid in attendance, winning a title is all these teams care about. Atleti have had four barren seasons, while La Real last got their hands on silverware six years ago – when captain Mikel Oyarzabal's penalty fired them to glory.
Whereas Diego Simeone's Rojiblanco bond needs no introduction, Pellegrino Matarazzo's astounding impact on his Basque side hasn't received anywhere near the fanfare it deserves. La Real were 16th in La Liga and reeling from three straight defeats (and eight in 14 league games) when the little-known American was appointed. They've since won 11 of 18 games, a run that's included victory over Barcelona and home and aways defeats of Basque rivals Athletic Bilbao to reach the final.
Under Matarazzo Real Sociedad have lost only three times. Forget relegation – they've now within touching distance of European football. The Champions League is probably just out of reach, but win the Copa del Rey and they'll be assured of a place in the Europa League regardless. Oyarzabal remains the team's beating heart and principal goal threat, but Inaki Ruperez, Jon Gorrotxategi, Yangel Herrera, Igor Zubeldia and Alvaro Odriozola are all out through injury.
Atletico, of course, have already had a week to savor, having progressed to the Champions League last four by eliminating Barcelona, courtesy of goals from Julian Alvarez, Alexander Sorloth and Ademola Lookman – and it was Barça they beat 4-0 in the semifinal first leg to all but secure their Copa del Rey final spot. They've already beaten Real Sociedad once this season, Nicolas Gonzalez proving the match-winner in a 3-2 thrillride last month. It'll be a big game for Antoine Griezmann, too – in his final season in Spain, the forward will face his former club la Real in the final.
