VPN Super Unlimited Proxy has shot to 2nd in Australia's iOS free app download charts in the wake of Australia's new age verification measures. However, our initial checks reveal several concerning traits. Most notably, its privacy policy explicitly refers to selling user data.
Australia's new measures require residents to verify their age when accessing adult content. The move saw VPN Super Unlimited Proxy rise to 4th in the iOS App Store rankings, before rising to second throughout yesterday (March 9). Regardless of its popularity, though, our findings suggest it shouldn't be trusted.
Looking into its Android app, especially, we found the provider requests access to 40 permissions, roughly double the number you'd see from a VPN you can wholly trust. What's more, it includes 28 trackers, whereas the best VPNs will often ask for fewer than 10.
If you live in Australia and want a cheap, beginner-friendly, and trustworthy VPN, I recommend Norton VPN. For AU$70, you can get access to Norton VPN's Plus plan.
This gives you VPN protection, antivirus, scam protection, password management, cloud storage, and dark web alerts — everything you need to make sure any data submitted for age verification doesn't end up in the wrong hands.
Norton VPN: Exclusive deal, plans start from 70 AU$
Norton VPN's Plus plan is a great way to protect yourself when navigating new age verification measures. It's a super fast VPN, rarely drops out, and has apps suitable for any experience level. Included, you'll get:
📱 5 device connections
💽 Real-time protection for phishing and ransomware
🔒 Password management
👤 Dark web alerts
🦠 Antivirus with 100% protection promise
💾 10GB of secure cloud backup
All Norton VPN plans come with a huge 60-day money-back guarantee. So, if you're unsure, you've got two months to decide if you want your money back.
Norton VPN offers three physical server locations in Australia — Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney. While this is fewer than ExpressVPN (6), Surfshark (5), and NordVPN (5), it's cheaper than NordVPN, the best Australia VPN overall, and offers a much simpler user experience.
It's also worth checking out Surfshark's Basic plan. Starting from just over AU$75, you'll get a slightly superior experience compared with Norton.
Surfshark is the fastest VPN we've tested and offers unlimited simultaneous connections.
However, Norton's antivirus capabilities are stronger than Surfshark's.
While Surfshark's Antivirus performs admirably among VPNs, Norton has long been considered a top antivirus, before any of its systems were included in a VPN.
This means, should you need to verify your age using means you're unsure of, you'll have tools you can rely on to keep your data safe.
