I've been monitoring Apple Black Friday deals all month – and the big discounts on AirPods, iPhones, iPads and MacBooks are finally arriving

We called this machine "a beautiful, intelligent beast" in our 4.5-star iPhone 16 Pro Max review, loving its massive screen, camera control button and fantastic performance. It has been superseded by the 17 Pro Max, but it's still more smartphone than most users will know what to do with. And this deal makes it AU$500 cheaper than its successor.

If you want a big-screen iPhone, the data to match and to avoid paying for power that you don't really need from the iPhone 17 Pro Max, this is the deal for you as there is not iPhone 17 Plus. If you’re looking to upgrade your older iPhone model without spending big on an iPhone 17, the iPhone 16e is an excellent choice, especially with this discount. We think it’s the better option over the a discounted iPhone 15. Despite its solo camera, it offers incredible battery life and modern features like Apple Intelligence and the Action button.

Plus, considering the iPhone 17 Pro Max's price, a long contract (and smaller repayments) will be attractive to many.

Get the iPhone 16e at half price when connected an eligible plan over 24 or 36 months – just AU$499

The iPhone 16e is the best budget iPhone that you can buy and that's at its regular AU$999 price tag – so snagging it at 50% off is one helluva deal. You'll have to pair it with an Optus SIM over 24 or 36 months, but considering you can get 50GB for just AU$38.50 p/m (or 200GB for AU$45.50 p/m) on the first 12 months for Black Friday, that hardly diminishes this deal.

As one of our top Apple devices to watch before Black Friday, this excellent iPad can cover both casual and high-powered tasks at this price. Its improved A16 chip offers fast performance and its 11-inch display is plenty big enough for entertainment and work. However, it does not offer Apple Intelligence functionality. Only available in the blue colourway.

Need something with a little more power? Maybe you just want a smaller device. 2024's iPad mini offers both. Its A17 Pro chip provides enough power to handle Apple Intelligence, all within a compact 8.3-inch device. Plus, at this price, it's only AU$100 more expensive than the retail price of the model above. The biggest complaint in our iPad mini (2024) review was its price, and this deal more than takes care of that.

Looking for a laptop replacement or just a tablet that can actually handle all the work you can throw at it? From 4K editing to high-powered gaming, the M3-powered iPad Air can take it on – now AU$252 off. We loved its power, display and battery life in our 11-inch iPad Air with M3 review.

In our MacBook Air (M4) review, we said it was "the best ultraportable" with a new price that makes it "even more appealing". Its M4 chip delivers top-notch performance, and it features the same (excellent) design and all-day battery life as the previous model. We don't tend to see much in the way of Apple discounts, so this 18% off the latest model is a great deal.

We'd hazard that the extra power found in the M4 model above is worth the extra cost, even if you won't actually notice the difference. But why pay for something you don't need? A great option for students (and frankly anyone) it offers speedy performance that will easily handle most tasks.

It's a small discount, but if you've been waiting to snag Apple's tiny PC, this might be the best it gets. Calling it smaller, faster, better" in our Apple M4 Mac mini review, our tester loved the power and value provided by its tiny build. That said, a AU$72 discount isn't anything to sneeze at.

While its ANC might not be as good, we said it was "remarkably close" to the AirPods Pro 2 in our Apple AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation review. In fact, we think they're "the best open-ear buds for iPhone".

Our tester called them "the perfect headphones for Apple devotees" in our Apple AirPods Max review. More than a year on, nothing has changed. They offer unbelievable audio, a fantastically smooth user experience and great noise cancelling. They're still more expensive than competitors like the Sony WH-1000XM6, but there are some cool extra features for iOS.

A 5% discount isn't usually one we'd sing about, but this is about the best we expect to see on the Apple TV 4K. It's easily the best streaming device on the market. While it's small, it offers HDR10+ and the company’s A15 Bionic chip for snappy menu navigation and game-play in Apple Arcade.

It opens up a world of possibilities – from easy sketching and art, to note taking and just easier scrolling depending on your position. While Android tablets tablets often include a stylus, that's not the case here, but we think it's a worthy purchase at this price.
