Bad news, comfort watchers: How I Met Your Mother is set to leave Netflix on December 2. While no official reason has been given for this, it's likely because CBS' initial licensing agreement with the streaming giant has come to an end.

It's a fairly normal thing to happen, but it's incredibly annoying. So many of our favorite shows – such as New Amsterdam and The Walking Dead – have also fallen victim to this, meaning our back catalog of comfort shows to stream is getting smaller by the minute.

Stream How I Met Your Mother for free using Hulu's 30-day free trial

Hulu: 30-day free trial

Hulu: 30-day free trial
New and eligible returning customers can try out Hulu's on-demand plans with a 30-day Hulu free trial, which is four times longer than its usual 7-day free trial offer. Thereafter, you'll have to pay $11.99 a month for its with-ads plan, or $18.99 a month to cut out the commercials. A free trial has also returned for its Hulu with Live TV plan, but this is only for three days. Find out more about how to get a Hulu free trial in our guide.

That's right: act now by getting a 30-day Hulu free trial and you can technically binge all of How I Met Your Mother without spending a penny. The sitcom has no plans to leave the streaming service, so fans in the US can rest assured that it's not going anywhere.

Here's a step-by-step guide to signing up:

  • Visit the Hulu website
  • Click 'Sign Up for Hulu Only'
  • Choose between the three plans
  • Enter your billing information
  • Enjoy up to 30 days of Hulu for free

There's even better news for T-Mobile users, who can get an entire year of free Hulu (with ads) with any of its Experience Beyond and Go5G Next plans. Students can also get a Hulu discount of $1.99 a month, which is more than 65% off the regular plan price.

For everyone else, there's never been a better time to plump for one of many existing Hulu deals. Why? Parent company Disney announced a price hike that saw the costs of all of its streaming services increase by an average of $3 per month, which came into effect on October 21.

As for the other best streaming deals available for Hulu, check out the below:

Disney+ and Hulu annual ad-supported plan: $21.98$12.99 at Hulu and Disney+

Disney+ and Hulu annual ad-supported plan: was $21.98 per month now $12.99 at Hulu and Disney+
To subscribe to Disney+ and Hulu's ad-supported plans separately would normally cost just under $22 dollars a month for a bundle, but you can get them both for $12.99 a month, representing a saving of 40% on the separate annual plans. Sadly, you'll have to watch commercials on both streaming services, but with a saving of over $100 on offer compared to if you bought both services separately, we suspect you'll think it's a price worth paying. This is the usual bundle saving to be clear.

Disney+, ESPN Unlimited and Hulu bundle: $46.97$29.99 at Disney

Disney+, ESPN Unlimited and Hulu bundle: was $46.97 now $29.99 at Disney
There's a growing number of Disney+ bundles now available that offer more choice depending on what you do and don't want out of your streaming subscription. While some ESPN content was added to Disney+ in 2024, the best way to unlock access to the sports network is through a subscription. In this bundle, you can get Disney+, Hulu and ESPN Unlimited for $29.99 – separately these subscriptions would cost $46.97 a month otherwise. There are also options to pay more to forgo commercials.

Hulu, Disney+ and HBO Max bundle: $32.97$19.99 at Hulu

Hulu, Disney+ and HBO Max bundle: was $32.97 for three-months now $19.99 at Hulu
This is another bundle offer but it gets you access to Hulu, Disney+ and HBO Max for three-months for close to 40% off buying each service on its own. This is just the regular discounted bundle price, but it's good to know about. One thing to note is that this bundle offer only applies to each service's ad-supported plan, so don't expect to find premium features as part of this bundle, for that you'll need to spend $32.99 a month. But you do unlock access to the best Disney+ movies, the best Disney+ shows, the best HBO Max shows and the best HBO Max movies alongside Hulu's great content library.

How I Met Your Mother is also available to buy or rent on Prime Video and Apple TV in the US, and is available on Disney+ in the UK and Australia.

The spinoff How I Met Your Father can also be found using the above Hulu bundles.
