The best Virgin broadband deals and bundles in November 2021

Virgin broadband deals stand out as one of the best internet options in the UK today. With super-fast speeds, dedicated fibre optics and most recently, affordable pricing, Virgin is a top-notch choice.

As we said above, Virgin appeals mostly because of its speeds. Where most broadband deals cap out somewhere between 67-100+Mb, Virgin goes well into excess of 500Mb average speeds.

This makes Virgin an especially tempting option with more people than ever working from home. And while it's speeds are a factor many will be interested in, the broadband and TV deals it offers are likely what it is best known for.

Virgin, like Sky and BT, has a range of broadband and TV options available. These range from the cheap Big Bundle through to the feature-packed Ultimate Oomph bundle.

Whether it's fibre broadband deals you're after or you're looking for a fully kitted out internet and TV package, this guide will talk you through Virgin broadband deals to help you know your next step.

Virgin's broadband speeds and packages:

Virgin Fibre's selling point is its super fast broadband speeds. Using only cables, Virgin is able to offer some of the most compelling speeds on the market. And while prices used to be astronomical, they've become a lot better over the years.

M50
The slowest speed from Virgin is still somehow a really fast package. With the M50 plan, you'll get speeds averaging 54Mb. That's going to be fast enough for most smaller households but might start to struggle with a lot of activity going on at once.

M100
M100 feels like the best option from Virgin and is the one featured on a lot of its plans. It supplies speeds averaging 108Mb which is perfect for working from home, streaming, gaming and general heavy use of the internet.

M200
Stepping up to the M200 plan, you're getting average speeds of 213Mb. This will be especially useful if you are downloading a lot of content, playing games competitively, you live in a house with a lot of smart tech or you live with a lot of people.

M350
Finally, Virgin offers 362Mb speeds with the M350 plan. These are some incredible speeds and should hold over even the heaviest users of data. Whether you're streaming constantly, running a business from home or exporting content at a constant rate, you would be struggling to push this package to its extreme.

Volt: bundling O2 with Virgin

If you need a new broadband plan alongside your phone contract, another option would be the new 'Volt' scheme. This is part of O2 and Virgin's new joint venture, offering a combined bundle.

By combining the two services, you can get a boost in the data of your O2 plan and increase the speeds of your broadband. Of course, it isn't cheap but that is mostly because you're getting two services in one.

There is a couple of options available, all including broadband, a SIM plan or phone and TV.

What TV options does Virgin offer?

After a recent re-branding, Virgin now offers two different TV packages - Mixit and Maxit.

Mixit TV With Virgin's smaller TV package, you get access to over 110 channels (freeview).

Maxit TV Jump up to Virgin's bigger TV package and you get access to over 230 channels. That includes the likes of BT Sport and some top Sky channels as well. Some select Maxit packages will also contain Sky Cinema, additional drama channels and other such options.

What broadband and TV bundles does Virgin offer?

After a massive re-brand, Virgin now has completely new names for all of its bundles, these are what you can get:

Big bundle Virgin's basic bundle adds 70+ TV channels, weekend calls, Sky On Demand and a brand new Virgin TV V6 box to your M50 broadband plan.

Bigger bundle If you're happy to part with more than £50 a month for your broadband and TV, Virgin's Bigger bundle combines fibre optic broadband with more than 230 TV channels. There's good news for sports fans - the extra channels include BT Sport 1, 2 and 3. And there are box sets if drama's more your thing.

Ultimate Oomph bundle As the name implies, Virgin has gone all out with the red carpet. As well as premium TV channels such as all the Sky Sports and Sky Cinema offerings, Virgin also throws in a second Virgin TV V6 box. That means you can record up to 12 channels at once with 2TB of storage - enough for around 1,000 hours of TV. Ideal for large families.

On top of all of that, all of Virgin's 'Oomph' bundles also come with  a new service promise, that will ensure that any customer that signs up now (or has been with Virgin since April 29) will get unlimited 4G mobile data for seven days if their broadband goes down.

Furthermore, anyone on the Unlimited Oomph plan will be able to book a next-day engineer appointment to get their connection (and any other service fault) back up and running.

Can I get a phone line with Virgin Media broadband?

You can indeed - and the good news is that you can keep the phone number you previously had with your BT phone line.

The starting cost is roughly the same as a Virgin broadband only plan for the first 12 months, and then goes up after the first year. That includes unlimited weekend calls to landlines and numbers on Virgin Mobile.

After that, you can start adding extra talk time to your plan. A little extra a month gets you Talk More Weekends, which adds all UK mobiles to your allowance. Talk More Evenings and Weekends allows calls to any UK number after 7pm on weekday evenings, while Talk More Anytime gives you as many calls as you like at any time of day.

Got friends or family abroad? A further upgrade allows calls to 30 international locations - including Australia, Canada and the USA - as part of the Talk More International Anytime plan.

Do I have to pay anything up front for Virgin broadband?

Yes, but not a lot. No matter which Virgin Media broadband package you choose, you'll have to pay a one-off £35 activation fee. Virgin has recently started running the occasional promotion where it will cut this fee completely but these are rare.

How long will my Virgin Media contract be?

The average Virgin contract will tie you in for 18 months. However, every so often a 12 month contract will pop up and you have the option on an array of Virgin packages to cut down your contract down to 30-days rolling.

However, to secure that 1 month contract, you do have to pay a bit more in most cases.

How do I contact the Virgin Media helpline?

How do I contact the Virgin Media helpline?

You can call 0345-4545-1111 to speak to one of Virgin's customer advisers, or 150 from a Virgin phone. But that's only between 8am and 10pm - outside of those times you'll have to rely on the company's online support pages.
