Disney+ price: how much does it cost, are there any deals, is it cheaper than Netflix, and more

Disney+ has positioned itself as a leading contender for your attention in the streaming space since its initial November 2019 release. However, because it's become one of the more pricier options around in the years since, you might be wondering if it's worth signing up to the service to consume its vast suite of content.

Since it launched in the US over six years ago, Disney+ has only gone up in price stateside and in other territories it's since arrived in.

As of May 2026, US consumers are forced to spend $11.99 per month for its ad-supported plan and $15.99 every 30 days for the ad-free tier. You're looking at $189.99 for an annual subscription for the latter experience, too.

In the UK, an ad-based subscription costs £5.99 a month, the standard ad-free tier is £9.99 per month, and the ad-free premium plan will set you back £14.99 per month. Annually, the ad-free tiers are £99.90 and £149.90 respectively.

As for the rest of the world, here's how much you'll need to part with for a monthly subscription to Disney+'s ad-supported tier:

Disney+ deals: are there any available?

Yes, there is a way to get Disney+ for less. However, you'll need to make use of the Disney+ password sharing crackdown to save some cash.

For those who don't know: the crackdown, which began in 2024, means you can't share your account with anyone who lives in a separate household to you. That's unless family members or friends who wish to continue using your account are added to your subscription as an Extra Member.

Predictably, that doesn't come without a cost. In the US, you have to pay an additional $6.99 (with ads) and $9.99 (without ads) per month. Meanwhile, UK customers will need to fork out £4.99 for the ad-supported tier, or £5.99 every 30 days for both of the ad-free offerings.

How does this save you money? By splitting the cost of a monthly subscription (with the extra member fee included) between you and one or more households, you can continue to access the same account and share the financial load by saving some money in the process. It's not ideal, but it's better than paying for Disney+ in full on your own.

How does the Disney+ price compare to other streamers?

Not sure whether you should pick Disney+ over its streaming rivals? I don't blame you. Without signing up — or, if one is available, making use of a free trial — to a specific platform to see what new movies and TV shows they offer, it can seem like a stab in the dark to open an account with one or more of them.

That's where I come in. Below, you'll find a handy table that reveals how much each platform's cheapest ad-free tier is. That'll allow you to compare them from a price point perspective and make a more informed decision on which one is worth trying, especially if funds are tight.

Is Disney+ worth the price?

In short: yes, but only just. Disney+ isn't cheap on the ad-free subscription front but, if you can stomach adverts and are working to a budget, its ad-supported plan is a great alternative.

As one of the oldest studios around, Disney has built up an extensive — and mostly excellent — back catalog of films and shows.

Animation-wise, there are lots of classic animated Disney movies and Pixar delights to enjoy. Disney+ is also home to numerous big franchises, including Star Wars and Marvel, its own original movies and TV shows, and flora-, fauna-, and location-based documentaries by way of National Geographic. It even features adult-oriented content via the recently integrated Hulu app (outside of the US), too, so it's not the completely kid-friendly streamer that many people make it out to be.

Disney+ doesn't license content from its competitors, so you won't be able to stream originals from the likes of Netflix and Prime Video. Frankly, though, it doesn't need to. There's over a century's worth of content to enjoy on the service, so a Disney+ subscription is definitely worth considering.

And, hey, if you're not fussed on what's new on the platform for any given month, you can cancel your Disney+ subscription and reopen your account when there's something that piques your interest.

Disney Plus price: FAQs

Which countries is Disney+ available in?

Since its November 2019 launch in the US, Disney+ has been rolled out in 106 nations. Those include — but aren't limited to — Australia, New Zealand, the UK, numerous European countries, Japan, and nations in Latin America.

Is a Disney+ free trial currently available?

A seven-day free trial was introduced when Disney+ was originally released, but one hasn't been available since late 2021.

If you're in the market for a new phone contract, there may be a way to try it for free if you can find a deal with Disney+ included as part of a bundle. Alternatively, you can look at third-party websites to see if they've got a deal running. For more information, check out our Disney+ free trial guide.

Failing all of that, you can shift the cost onto a loved one and ask for a Disney+ gift card for your birthday, Christmas, or another special occasion. Hey, it's technically free if you didn't pay for it!
