Lincoln plays John, a reserved stay-at-home dad quietly raging with a life he perceives as painfully mundane. Following a violent playground confrontation in which he failed to act, John insists on a change of pace for his family, moving them to the seemingly idyllic village of Coldwater in rural Scotland.
Once there, John quickly befriends neighbour Tommy (Ewen Bremner) despite protests from his wife Fiona (Indira Varma). But following a series of unsettling incidents, including an outpouring of John’s repressed rage, it becomes clear that Tommy’s ‘pillar of the community’ persona is far from the truth, with the new neighbour harbouring some terrifying secrets.
