The cost of Apple TV+ might seem high when compared to the major paid-for streaming services that have much larger libraries of content, but the fact that it throws in ad-free viewing, 4K streams and more for the same price makes it one of the most affordable options around.

While not as cheap as it once was following two price increases to the Apple TV+ cost since it launched in 2019, the service has a growing catalog of critically-acclaimed content (just look at the best Apple TV+ movies and best Apple TV+ shows for a sample), making it one of the best value options.

Is Apple TV+ worth the price?

In my personal opinion, Apple TV+ is worth the price in 2025. The streaming service has come on leaps and bounds in recent years and is home to award-winning TV shows like Severance and Ted Lasso. Most of their originals are very good, just check out our best Apple TV+ shows guide for 32 great recommendations.

Where it's lacking, however, is movies. If you're a cinephile and you'll be watching more movies than TV shows, you might want to choose a streaming service like Netflix or Prime Video instead for more variety. As it stands we've got 44 best Netflix movies and 28 best Prime Video movies, as opposed to the best Apple TV+ movies, where we only have 18.

These streaming giants are adding to their libraries monthly, and on the first of the month we tend to see a lot of new movies coming through. So it really depends on what you're most keen to watch.

However, the Apple TV+ monthly cost is cheaper than some rivals and you don't get ad-breaks either, so it's a worthy investment if you want high quality, thought provoking original shows and no interruptions.
