The wait is finally over, Apple fans: iPhone 17 preorders have officially opened worldwide, and I'm on hand to help you score the best possible deals on all four of the brand's shiny new devices.
As an overview, the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and all-new iPhone Air were all unveiled during Apple's big September keynote. As per usual, there was a short wait until you could lay down some cash, but the wait is finally over.
Today's best iPhone 17 deals include excellent options for both the US and UK. In the US, all the major carriers are currently offering extensive trade-in rebates of up to $1,100; that's enough to score a free iPhone 17 Pro. There are even decent non-trade-in options today if you'd prefer to skip that, although note, you'll still need a plan to get a discount.
In the UK, you can get an excellent trade-in rebate of up to £670 off directly through Apple for unlocked devices, while several major networks are also offering up to £400 off with trades. Alongside cheap plans and flexible financing options, it's possible to get a device for as little as £30 upfront today. Although, as always, make sure you add up the prospective monthly payments before you commit.
The latest range of Apple flagships debut at $799 / £799 for the iPhone 17, $999 / £999 for the iPhone Air, $1,099 / £1,099 for the iPhone 17 Pro, and $1,199 / £1,199 for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Note that preorders are open now for a September 19th release date.

Apple iPhone 17 series: up to $1,100 off with a trade-in and unlimited plan at Verizon
Verizon's opening iPhone 17 deals offer a hefty trade-in rebate across every device in the range today. The biggest possible discount is a massive $1,100 saving that's currently available on the high-end iPhone 17 Pro devices, which is available with a new line on the Ultimate unlimited plan. If that plan's a little too pricey for your tastes, then you can instead trade in a new line on one of the cheaper options to get an impressive $800 off the standard iPhone 17.
Apple iPhone 17 series: up to $1,100 off with a trade-in and unlimited plan at AT&T
AT&T has some particularly generous trade-in rebates for its opening iPhone 17 deals this week, offering up to $1,100 off the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, and up to $830 off the standard iPhone 17 and iPhone Air. To be eligible for the maximum discount, you'll have to hand over an iPhone 13 or newer, which is quite obtainable in terms of criteria. Of course, you will still need a new line on an unlimited data plan to be eligible, so expect to pay a hefty sum even with the phone discount.
Apple iPhone 17 series: up to $1,100 off with a trade-in and unlimited plan at T-Mobile
Over at T-Mobile, you can get a decent discount of up to $1,100 off when you trade in a device and pick up a 17-series phone alongside a new unlimited line. According to the criteria, the biggest discount is eligible with a trade of an iPhone 13 Pro or newer, but older devices can still get up to $820 off here. That's enough to cover the entire cost of the iPhone 17, so there are some good options. Note, however, you will still need a line on one of the carrier's 24-month postpaid plans to be eligible for the rebate.
Apple iPhone 17 series: up to $830 off with a plan at Boost Mobile
Boost Mobile's impressive Infinite Access for iPhone deal is back again for the iPhone 17 series, offering an impressive discount that's not tied to the usual trade-in criteria. Right now, you can get $830 off when you bundle-in any of the four new devices alongside the carrier's $65/mo unlimited plan. If that doesn't appeal, then Boost also has a fantastic deal that gets you a full year of unlimited plan service when you buy a device upfront.
Apple iPhone 17 series: up to $700 off with a trade-in at Apple
Apple's opening iPhone 17 deal is, well, it's typically Apple. You're going to be able to get up to $700 off here with an eligible trade-in rebate – a maximum discount that lags behind the other major carriers right now in terms of value. Of course, buying an iPhone directly from Apple means you can get an unlocked device, which is extremely handy if you want to avoid long-term unlimited plans.

Apple iPhone 17 series: up to £670 off with a trade-in at Apple
Apple's trade-in rebate of up to £670 will be one of the better discounts out there for our UK readers this week, and definitely the best option for a cheap unlocked device. Of course, the rebate rates fall off pretty quickly unless you're handing over the shiniest of iPhones, but this is still a good option - especially if you're pairing up your device with a SIM-only contract.
Apple iPhone 17 series: £400 off with a trade-in and plan at Three
Three is offering an impressive discount for its introductory iPhone 17 deals this week. Combine your preorder with a trade-in and new plan at the carrier and you can get an impressive £400 discount. That means getting a Pro on an unlimited data plan from just £50 per month with a reasonable £40 upfront cost.
Apple iPhone 17 series: £400 off with a trade-in and plan at Vodafone
Vodafone is also offering exceptional discounts of up to £400 across the iPhone 17 range when you trade-in an old phone alongside a new contract. That can bag you an iPhone 17 for as little as £26.57 per month with just £30 to pay upfront. Also available is the network's 'Vodafone Xchange' - a program that lets you upgrade your device every year free of charge when you sign-up for a 24-month plan.

FAQ
Which iPhone is the best value?
If you're buying a device outright, then for my money, the standard iPhone 17 is the clear winner in terms of value. While outwardly the device is extremely similar to last year's iPhone 16, you get some great upgrades in the form of the new A19 chipset, 120Hz display, and 18MP front-facing camera. Most impressively of all, though, Apple has upped the baseline storage from 128GB to 256GB while keeping the starting price at $799 / £799.
With that said, the best value iPhone is nearly always about context. For example, do you already have a Pro device ready to hand over as part of a trade? You could also be looking at bundling up your device with a premium unlimited plan. In some scenarios, you might be eligible for a rebate that covers the entire cost of a higher-end Pro or Air device.
Will the iPhone 17 get discounted soon?
Unlikely, unfortunately. As someone who's covered iPhone deals for over five years, I've never seen Apple itself offer an upfront discount on its latest iPhones. Generally speaking, the brand waits until a new series is released before dropping the price on its older devices (the iPhone 16 is $699 now, for example).
Furthermore, the initial preorder deals on iPhones tend to be the strongest promotions we see for a few months until Black Friday in November. If you're thinking about holding off until the big end-of-year sales, then that's definitely an option since both US carriers and UK networks tend to feature seasonal deals on iPhones. Of course, those will still be tied to a plan.
What's new with the iPhone 17 series?
- Brand new Air model replaces the Plus
- A19 and A19 Pro chipsets
- Upgraded cameras
- New vapor chamber cooling on the Pro models
Apple’s 2025 iPhone lineup introduces the biggest shake-up we've seen for a few years – namely, with the introduction of the all-new iPhone Air. At just 5.6mm thick, the Air is Apple’s slimmest phone ever and neatly slots into the void left by the now departed iPhone 16 Plus.
Despite its thinness, the iPhone Air still packs in the same A19 Pro chip found in the Pro models. As you'd imagine, however, there is a trade-off in that it only features a single 48MP “Fusion” camera instead of the Pro’s triple-lens setup. Still, that single lens supports 2x telephoto zoom, and Apple has promised all-day battery life.
The regular iPhone 17 also sees meaningful upgrades, including a 120Hz ProMotion display, peak brightness up to 3,000 nits, and a faster A19 chip with 20% better performance. Apple has bumped the base storage to 256GB, and all models now feature an upgraded 18MP “Center Stage” selfie camera, plus dual 48MP rear cameras on the standard model.
For power users, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max bring a bold new unibody aluminum design, a vapor chamber cooling system, and a striking cosmic orange color. Camera improvements include a triple 48MP setup with 4x optical and 8x hybrid zoom, while the A19 Pro chip delivers graphics performance that Apple says rivals the MacBook Pro.
