The Moses Itauma vs Jermaine Franklin boxing live stream on Saturday from the Co-op Arena, Manchester, features the heavyweight division's biggest rising star determined to deliver another knockout. The Brit wants a world title shot in the next year, but the 989 Assassin will want to ruin all those best-laid plans.
The 21-year-old Itauma has been cutting a swathe through the heavyweight division since making his pro debut as a teenager on the Artur Beterbiev vs Anthony Yarde undercard in January 2023. The southpaw from Chatham, Kent, is a brutal knockout artist with quick hands and even quicker feet, who stopped former world title challenger Dillian Whyte inside a round last time out. The No.1 contender with the WBA and WBO, Itauma fancies a world title shot in the next year, whether against Oleksandr Usyk or Fabio Wardley but can't take his eye off the opponent in front of him.
Franklin has experience and motivation to do damage. He was ready to go for this fight's original date in January, only for Itauma's hand injury to delay the fight by a couple of months. The 989 Assassin from Saginaw, Michigan, can hit hard and more than makes up for his lack of movement by standing and trading. His only two defeats in a 26-fight career came against former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and Whyte, and he took both the distance. He's exactly the sort of gatekeeper Itauma needs to fight at this stage of his career.
