Bose, Apple, Sonos & Sennheiser: 6 EOFY headphone deals I'd actually recommend as an audio-gear expert
Models of all styles and for all budgets
It’s tax time in Australia, and while that means the prospect of a nice rebate on the horizon, it also brings a wave of EOFY deals and discounts across a huge range of products.
Nowhere is that more evident than in headphones, which are often among the easiest categories to score a serious saving on during major sales events. While they might be tricky to justify as a work-related expense, if you’ve been considering an upgrade the current EOFY sales have provided some excellent opportunities to save when doing so.
As TechRadar Australia’s resident headphone fiend, I’ve trawled the sales pages of the country’s biggest retailers to uncover six standout deals I think are worth your attention. And if none quite hit the mark, I’ve included links so you can browse the full ranges at your own pace.
Retailers with EOFY headphone deals
Apple’s ubiquitous buds are a regular in any headphone deals post I write, for good reason. They’re supremely comfortable, sound phenomenal and offer a number of genuinely useful features for iPhone owners. The Pro 3’s AU$429 launch price was a little tough to stomach, so thankfully this AU$100 saving fixes that.
I will continue to campaign for the Sonos Aces until the end of time, as I’ve still yet to find a more comfortable pair of over-ear headphones. I think they sound great too, and thanks to some truly effective Dolby Atmos tech, they’re also sensational when used to listen to movies and TV shows.
Dropping to an all-time low of just under AU$490, there’s never been a better chance to secure this second-gen version of Bose’s most talented set of noise-cancelling headphones. If you want to enjoy your music in a bubble of silence, look no further. Throw in 30 hours of battery with ANC on, meaningful updates to the Immersive Audio mode and high-res audio in wired mode, and you have yourself an unrivalled set of cans.
Wired headphones and earbuds are back in vogue, and the Sennheiser CX 80U are a strong example of the sound quality they can offer. Available in a range of colours direct from Sennheiser, they’re an easy upgrade if your phone has a USB-C port.
Also available at JB Hi-Fi for the same price.
We enjoyed the sound quality and fit of these clip-style 'open' earbuds in our Soundcore AeroClip review, although we had to admit a lack of features such as ANC lets them down a little. For outright sound though, and price, they’re a great buy.
If you’ve been eyeing up a set of open-style earbuds, then you need to consider this pair from Bose. While you certainly can find cheaper pairs, they won’t deliver the same level of quality as you’re getting here. Audio is excellent, the fit is secure and you’re offered plenty of personalisation in the companion app.
