Philips has announced it will be bringing out a 3D-ready version of its flagship Cinema 21:9 TV in 2010.
The huge TV, which Philips claims is the only one on the market to offer a full cinematic experience, will use a different type of 3D technology to many of its rivals.
The Philips range of 3D TVs will be using Active 3D technology, which uses a wireless transmitter to communicate with the glasses.
New technology
The signal tells the glasses when to open and close in sync with the pictures on screen, allowing sharp and clear 3D images.
Philips claims that this "allows each eye to view its own FullHD image with no loss of resolution or brightness."
There's no word on a UK release date for this new 3D ready 21:9 TV, but Philips has promised more details later in the year.

1. As a Kuro owner for the past 6 months I am glad that nothing has come out that would make me feel like I wish I had waited or had gone for something else.
I think this is partly down to having not been sold on 3D in the home just yet as that was the only thing that might have had me holding off my purchase. However I think I am safe in the knowledge that I have a very good few years usage out of the Kuro before I will feel the need to replace it.
However..I am sure that anyone who plumped for such a unique and specialist product as the 21:9 is the kind of person who would want the most up to date and top spec model. Maybe said people can afford the replacement already but I'm sure that they may do so begrudgingly.
Or maybe like me they just wont be sold on 3D just yet. I cant see this version being cheaper than the current model so surely anyone who wanted one probably has it already!
I love my gadgets and tech and always cant wait for the next big thing,(IPAD a case in point)but with HD not being the standard in peoples homes yet (despite so many HD TVs having been sold and not used for HD content)is it possible tech is actually trying to move forwards too quickly!
