  • Avengers: Doomsday will seemingly include more MCU heroes than expected
  • Leaked images indicate two unannounced stars are part of its ensemble
  • If true, it'll take Doomsday's cast roster to 29

A fresh Avengers: Doomsday leak seems to have confirmed two more Marvel heroes will appear in the highly-anticipated comic book movie.

Promotional images for the Marvel Phase 6 film, which look like they've been snapped for a glossy magazine cover story, dropped yesterday (November 18) after an unknown source leaked them online. Considering two of the photographs show characters who weren't part of Avengers: Doomsday's initial 27-strong cast reveal in March, the snaps all but confirm these individuals will have a role to play in the Multiverse Saga's penultimate movie.

Potentially huge spoilers immediately follow for Avengers: Doomsday. Do not proceed if you don't want to know which other actors the movie could feature!

The images, which have been shared across X/Twitter, Reddit, and the ResetEra forums, seem to corroborate long-held rumors that Brie Larson's Captain Marvel and Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange are part of proceedings.

As I mentioned earlier, neither actor was announced as part of Doomsday's original roster earlier this year. Larson and Cumberbatch's Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) characters don't have solo movies coming out in 2026, either. The fact that they were snapped professionally for what appears to be a multi-page feature article, then, strongly implies that they'll show up in the next Avengers flick.

What makes this leak even more fascinating is Larson and Cumberbatch have refused to comment and/or initially denied their involvement in Doomsday.

In January, Cumberbatch revealed he wouldn't be in Doomsday. And, while he backtracked on that answer a few days later (per Business Insider) to say he was part of its ensemble, some fans believed Cumberbatch was toying with them over his potential appearance.

Meanwhile, speaking on an October 2025 edition of The View, Larson responded to a query about her possible participation in Avengers 5, saying: "Thank you for asking and you know I can’t answer."

Two weeks later, though, Larson set tongues wagging when, while casting her vote for the 2025 New York Mayoral election, told fans on Instagram to "ignore the wig!" (thanks to r/MarvelStudios for the screenshot). According to some, Larson's hairpiece has to be the one she sports when playing Captain Marvel, otherwise there'd be no reason to cover her head.

If – and, without confirmation from Disney and/or Marvel, it's still an if – the duo are in Doomsday, it raises a big question about the film. That being said, how on Earth will Avengers 5 juggle its now 29-strong cast and ensure each individual gets enough screen time?

That's before you consider the prospect that one of 2026's most exciting new movies will actually feature 31 characters, too. With a former Spider-Man and major villain also rumored to show up in Avengers: Doomsday, it's increasingly likely that Marvel's next team-up film will be overstuffed with characters – and, ultimately, I hope it's not to the movie's detriment.

Avengers: Doomsday will land in theaters on December 18, 2026. For more on the forthcoming flick, check out everything we know so far about Avengers: Doomsday.
