The Rugby Championship 2025 has entered its final week and there is still plenty on the line for New Zealand and Australia. In what has been one of the most competitive tournaments for years, both sides know that a victory in Perth would give them an outside chance of being named the best team in the southern hemisphere.

Last weekend saw New Zealand bounce back from their record defeat against South Africa with a hard-fought 33-24 victory over Australia. Not only did it ensure the All Blacks retained the Bledisloe Cup for a 23rd year, but it put them in prime position to take advantage of any potential slip-up from the table-topping Springboks. With the Boks not playing Argentina until later in the day, Scott Robertson’s side will be seeking a bonus-point victory that would heap pressure on the defending champions.

Despite their defeat last weekend in Auckland, Australia still have an outside chance of lifting the title. They would also need South Africa to lose to the Pumas and will need to secure a bonus-point win over New Zealand. It’s a tall order, especially given the Wallabies have lost their last 10 games against New Zealand. However, coach Joe Schmidt has been given a major boost ahead of the game, with behemoth second-row Will Skelton returning from injury.
