I'm pleasantly surprised the Black Friday deals this year. Sure, there were a few hidden gems last time around, but I've seen a veritable flood of great laptop deals this year. I'm normally not a huge Chromebook fan. When it comes down to it, I usually suggest something a little more powerful like a MacBook Air or Dell 14 Premium. But from our hands-on testing, it's clear the HP Chromebook Plus 15 is in a league of its own.

Everything I usually knock a Chromebook for – like a miniscule 4GB of RAM, tiny 64GB storage, and screen that makes you consider a portable monitor – doesn't apply here.

The Chromebook Plus 15 offers enough RAM and storage, combined with a respectable Intel core i3 processor, to ease my usual Chromebook performance woes.

And its surprising performance isn't the only reason we named it our top pick of the best Chromebooks in 2025. It also features a vibrant FHD display, which is not something you're usually going to get from a Chromebook. On top of that, you get a sleek design complete with HP build quality. Chromebooks usually feel cheap to me; this one doesn't.
