January 24, 2026: New year deals are over, but there are still some solid savings to be found across a big range of laptops and some fresh new back to school deals.

Whether you’re after an affordable laptop or a heavily discounted premium machine, you’re in the right place. We’ve tracked down the best ways to save across a range of models. Deals change from week to week, but below you’ll usually find offers on Apple, Dell, Lenovo, HP, Acer, Microsoft, and Asus devices.

The best deals on everyday laptops

Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 13.8-inch | X Plus / 16GB / 512GB SSD
Save 27% (AU$600)
Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 13.8-inch | X Plus / 16GB / 512GB SSD: was AU$2,199 now AU$1,599 at JB Hi-Fi

TechRadar’s recommended laptop for most people in 2025 is a Windows device once again, thanks to Microsoft going with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Plus and X Elite ARM CPUs to match the performance and efficiency found in Apple Silicon-powered MacBooks. The Surface Laptop 7 line also features high-DPI IPS displays with touchscreens, featuring 400-nit brightness and excellent colour reproduction. While ARM laptops aren’t best for those with very specific software requirements due to (now rare) potential compatibility issues, I reckon this is a solid discount.

The Snapdragon X Elite variant is also on sale from AU$1,799, and the 15-inch starts at AU$1,898.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura 14-inch | Intel Ultra 5 226V / 16GB / 512GB SSD: was AU$2,079 now AU$1,249 at Lenovo Australia

Need a slim but still reasonably powerful laptop? The Yoga Slim 7i Aura features the new Series 2 Intel Core Ultra5 226V CPU, a compact 14-inch 1920 x 1200 OLED display, plus premium features like a facial recognition webcam and Wi-Fi 7. Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 16-inch | Ultra 7 / 32GB / 1TB SSD
Save 45% (AU$1,580)
Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 16-inch | Ultra 7 / 32GB / 1TB SSD: was AU$3,479 now AU$1,899 at Lenovo Australia

This versatile 2-in-1 features the latest Series 2 Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor backed up by 32GB of RAM and a large 1TB SSD. The 16-inch (2880 x 1800) 120Hz OLED touchscreen display folds back through 360 degrees and works with the Lenovo pen (not included) for writing and drawing. You also get extras like an IR facial recognition webcam, dual Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports and a decently large 70Wh battery. That's a lot of laptop for the money!

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7X 14.5-inch OLED | X Elite / 32GB / 1TB SSD
Save 29% (AU$802)
Lenovo Yoga Slim 7X 14.5-inch OLED | X Elite / 32GB / 1TB SSD: was AU$2,799 now AU$1,997 at Amazon

This Snapdragon-powered laptop has an impressive spec for the price, with an X Elite X1E78100 CPU, 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. It also has a very nice 2944 x 1840 OLED touchscreen display that outputs 100% of the sRGB gamut. We have seen this machine slightly cheaper, but it's still a solid deal at this price.

Apple MacBook Pro | M5 / 16GB / 512GB SSD
Save 8% (AU$201)
Apple MacBook Pro | M5 / 16GB / 512GB SSD: was AU$2,499 now AU$2,298 at Amazon

This tiny saving on this MacBook Pro is currently the best deal going on the base model, which shows how little the laptop gets in the way of discounts.

The variant with a M4 Pro CPU and 24GB RAM costs AU$3,299 from Apple, but you can grab it for slightly less from Amazon at AU$3,127.

Gaming laptop deals

In the wake of Boxing Day and New Year sales, we aren't seeing any good gaming laptop deals right now. But stay tuned, as we will be adding any new discounts as soon as possible.

HP Victus 15 | i5 / RTX 4050 / 16GB / 512GB SSD
Bang for buck gaming
Save 25% (AU$379.80)
HP Victus 15 | i5 / RTX 4050 / 16GB / 512GB SSD: was AU$1,499 now AU$1,119.20 at eBay

The Victus 15 with RTX 4050 is often sold around the AU$1,500 mark (and the Ryzen 7 variant is AU$1,699 from HP), but the Intel i5 model is now discounted on the HP eBay store to AU$1,399. Then, using code HPJAN26, you get an extra 20% off, bringing the price down to an excellent AU$1,119.20. It was AU$999.20 during Black Friday, but this is the lowest I have seen since and the same as during Boxing Day. And overall it's a solid deal for a Core i5 RTX 4050 machine, as it's more than capable of decent frame rates on the 15-inch, 1080p, 144Hz screen.

HP Victus 15 | Ryzen 7 350 / RTX 5060 / 24GB / 1TB SSD
Save 20% (AU$439.80)
HP Victus 15 | Ryzen 7 350 / RTX 5060 / 24GB / 1TB SSD: was AU$2,199 now AU$1,759.20 at eBay

The HP Victus 15 with an RTX 5060 recently got a discount from the rather aspirational AU$2,799 list price, down to a still not great AU$2,199 on the HP Official eBay store (and the same AU$2,199 direct from HP). But now you can save an extra 20% off with code HPJAN26, bringing it down to AU$1,759.20. And that’s about AU$60 more than Black Friday, it's still pretty competitive with other RTX 5060 gaming laptop deals right now – especially since the Victus has 24GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD and a 1080p, 144Hz display. Note that it is running an 80W TGP (vs 100W, making it 10-15% slower), but that’s normal at this price.

You can also grab the RTX 5050 variant for AU$1,499.20 with the same code.

Lenovo Legion Pro 5i 16-inch (Gen 10) | Ultra 9 / RTX 5070 / 32GB / 1TB SSD
Save 26% (AU$1,040)
Lenovo Legion Pro 5i 16-inch (Gen 10) | Ultra 9 / RTX 5070 / 32GB / 1TB SSD: was AU$4,039 now AU$2,999 at Lenovo Australia

The Pro model of one of our favourite Lenovo laptops has a decent discount on the RTX 5070 variant, though it is AU$200 more than on Black Friday. Sure, the web price before discount is beyond steep, but on sale it's excellent value for a premium gaming machine with an OLED, 2560 x 1600, 165Hz display.

Lenovo Legion Pro 7i 16-inch (Gen 10) | Ultra 9 / RTX5090 / 32GB / 1TB SSD
Save 25% (AU$1,700)
Lenovo Legion Pro 7i 16-inch (Gen 10) | Ultra 9 / RTX5090 / 32GB / 1TB SSD: was AU$6,699 now AU$4,999 at Lenovo Australia

For those who want mighty gaming power, the Legion Pro 7i with an Intel Ultra 9 275HX processor and an RTX 5090 GPU is one of the better options going, even though it's AU$100 more than the Black Friday discount. There are almost no other comparable machines at this price, making it an excellent deal if you are willing to spend big. Read our review to learn more.

Amazon has a regularly updated selection of laptop deals. It’s often the best place to go for cheap Chromebooks and mid-range devices, so worth a look if your budget is under AU$1,000. It could also be worth checking Amazon coupon codes to get the best deal possible.

Dell: shop XPS, Inspiron and Alienware laptops

Dell no longer offers limited-time discounts on its range of laptops – instead, there’s only a featured section on its website. Unfortunately though, Dell doesn’t list the original price of these laptops, so it’s hard to know exactly what kind of deal you’re getting, or if you’re getting one at all. It does price match competitors' deals, and you can often find Dell coupon codes to ensure you’re getting the best discount.

No matter when you look, HP is always offering discounts on its laptops, with fresh deals available each week. Typically, we see discounts of up to 40-50% off. Along with laptops, you’ll also find price cuts on PCs, monitors and other computing peripherals. The most substantial discounts seem to arrive on HP’s budget and mid-range devices. Lenovo is another laptop maker which always offers discounts via its online store. The maximum price cut is usually around 30-55% off, and runs the gamut of budget machines, 2-in-1 devices and premium gaming builds. To get any laptop discounts from the website, you’ll require a Lenovo coupon code, which is always listed next to the product.

It often offers 10% off Apple MacBooks, 20% off Dell, HP and Lenovo, along with discounts on Asus and MSI. If you see a manufacturer offering a model on sale, it’s worth seeing if JB Hi-Fi is beating it.
