This early Prime Day deal drops the outstanding Kindle Colorsoft to its lowest-ever price

Amazon held a huge devices event yesterday and introduced some exciting new products such as the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft. That’s led to a huge price cut for another Kindle as we approach the retailer's upcoming Prime Big Deal Days sale - and one that will suit more bank balances.
Right now, you can buy the Amazon Kindle Colorsoft at Amazon for £169.99 (was £239.99). The £70 discount works out as nearly 30% off, which makes it even cheaper than the £185 price tag we saw in the summer and a new record-low price. It only costs £10 more than the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite, and honestly, it’s making me look at my older Kindle and wonder if I could spring for an upgrade.
The Amazon Kindle Colorsoft has a seven-inch colour display which is high-contrast and provides paper-like colour, which is easy on your eyes. It’s optimised for reading in colour compared to the Paperwhite, while you can even colour the pages yourself to make highlighting text clearer. Its battery life isn’t quite as good, but you can still expect up to 8 weeks between charges and enough storage for thousands of books.
Today's best Kindle deal
Think of all the advantages of the Kindle Paperwhite, but with a colour picture, and that’s what you get with the Amazon Kindle Colorsoft. It’s ideal for reading graphic novels and also just enjoying reading in any light. It’s simple to adjust brightness and warmth, it’s waterproof, and its eight-week battery life will suit everyone. At this new, lowest-ever price for the second Prime Day of the year, it feels like the ultimate Kindle experience for most people.
When we reviewed the Amazon Kindle Colorsoft, we called it “the Kindle of your dreams in color”. We loved its “amazing performance on E Ink” with “speedy refresh and zooming”. It’s pricey at its usual price, but with this discount, that’s far less of an issue.
In our best Kindles roundup, we raved about its “good colours, responsive performance, and excellent battery life”, with it also featuring highly among the best ereaders overall.
As with other Kindles, it’s a different experience from the best tablets, but in a good way. It’s distraction-free reading without any temptation to check TikTok for five minutes (turning into hours). It's a great buy for any book lover.
There are other Kindle deals if you want to aim for something cheaper or maybe the writing-focused Kindle Scribe. If you long for notifications and games, take a look at the tablet deals too.
