Sri Lanka and England each have plenty to iron out in preparation for the T20 World Cup. Brendan McCullum's indifference has infuriated supporters, but even he now seems to have clocked the depth of feeling.
England's ODI team features seven players who have only just returned from Australia, in what feels more like a challenge than a show of support. There's genuine excitement over Jacob Bethell after his flash of brilliance in Sydney, while senior men Joe Root and Jos Buttler are on hand to guide Brook. The likes of Brydon Carse, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett, however, may be playing for their international futures.
The Lions have also reshuffled their captains, placing Dasun Shanaka at the head of their T20I team in place of Charith Asalanka. They're in a far healthier position than England in the ODI picture, however. Sri Lanka currently rank fifth in the world, ahead of their opponents in eighth. Only the top eight gain automatic qualification to next year's 50-over World Cup.
