India vs South Africa is the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 final no one expected but everyone is looking forward to.

India's semifinal run-chase to beat seven-time champions Australia was more than just a record in women's ODI cricket, it delivered the crossover moment for the women's game for the country's national sport. More than 35,000 watched on – and millions more on live streams at home – utterly transfixed as Jemimah Rodrigues' superb unbeaten 127 proved the bedrock of a stunning five-wicket victory that invoked the spirit of 2017's semifinal defeat of the Aussies. Now, the Women in Blue want to go one better than eight years ago to win the final and catapult themselves to sporting immortality. Deepti Sharma is the joint-leading wicket taker this tournament, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur played herself back into form with a run-a-ball 89 against Australia.

South Africa made their own slice of history, as the Proteas roared to a 125-run defeat of England and reach a 50-over world final for the first time. Captain Laura Wolvaardt's 169 was magnificent enough, but the 69 runs she added from just 28 deliveries after reaching three figures was nothing short of staggering to take the semifinal away from the four-time world champions. Marizanne Kapp's figures of five for 20 strangled England's attempted run-chase before it got going – the latter for 1-3 at one stage. Kapp, the leading wicket taker ever in this format, will now seek another stellar showing to win the women's side's first major 50-over honor.
