The best smart light bulbs are a simple way to start your smart home journey, but as you’ll probably be replacing several bulbs in each room, they can be a costly purchase so a good smart light deal is always welcome.

In the UK, Amazon has slashed 40% off the price of the Philips Hue White Ambiance smart bulb twin-pack, reducing it to £24 from £39.99. This is the lowest price we’ve ever seen for this smart light bulb kit, beating even the prices we saw on Black Friday and Cyber Monday - although we could see an even lower price on Prime Day, which is right around the corner. Amazon has also reduced the version of the bulbs with a screw fitting, although not quite by the same amount - 39% rather than 40%, which means they’re £15 cheaper than the usual price. This is still a very good deal, and is worth grabbing if you’re in the market for new smart light bulbs.

The Philips Hue bulbs are extremely simple to use - just replace your existing bulbs with them and then use the Philips Hue app for your smartphone to switch the lights on, off, or adjust the brightness. The bulbs use Bluetooth to connect to your smartphone, so you won’t be able to control them when you’re not at home unless you purchase the optional Philips Hue Bridge, which connects to your router.

The bulbs are compatible with Amazon Echo and Google Nest smart speakers and displays, so you can also use your voice to control them, although you will need a Philips Hue bridge if you have a first-generation Amazon Echo or Amazon Echo Dot.
