On-the-go gaming can cost under $1,000 if you know where to look. Right now, you can get the Asus TUF F16 at Amazon for just $859.99 (was $999.99). That's a great low price for one of the flagship gaming laptops from Asus.

Asus is known for budget-friendly buys like the TUF F16 and its AMD-powered sibling, the Asus TUF A16. The F16's biggest highlight is the RTX 4050, Nvidia's base-level graphics card from its last-generation GPU series, which is best-suited to entry-level gaming on medium settings.

The Asus TUF F16 is a budget-friendly gaming laptop on par with our best cheap gaming laptops. It usually costs just a little bit more than the Acer Nitro V, but for under $900, you can get it close to its Black Friday price with an RTX 4050 and an Intel Core 5. Its 16-inch FHD+ display with a 144Hz refresh rate also meets the minimum I'd recommend for seamless gaming at 1080p. The 8GB RAM and 512GB are average, but are enough for beginner PC gaming or anyone looking for no frills, low-price gaming on the go.

At this price, the Asus TUF F16 is comparable to our best budget gaming laptops. It just depends on what specs you want to prioritize. For example, its 16-inch FHD+ screen supports a speedy 144Hz refresh rate for smooth and responsive gaming. Its CPU, the Intel Core 5, is on par with our best cheap gaming laptop, the Acer Nitro V.

As for memory and storage, the Asus TUF F16's 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD are average. But, they should be enough for someone just starting out with PC gaming or a low-maintenance gamer who only wants the basics for undemanding titles on medium settings at 1080p.
