We don't give out five stars easily, but the Insta360 X5 is more than worthy of the highest rating. In our Insta360 X5 review, we called it the "best-in-class 360 action camera that shines in the dark." Building on the quality of the X4, the X5 exceeds our expectations by offering better image quality and a tougher build.

Boasting huge 1/1.28-inch sensors, its 8K resolution video looks absolutely fantastic. It also performs brilliantly in low light, which is far from guaranteed with action cameras. Beyond image quality, the X5 is built to last with a rugged exterior and waterproofing up to 15m (49ft). This is an action camera that you can take to the extremes.

Another big win for the X5 is the inclusion of replaceable lenses. If you scratched or cracked the lens on the X4, then you'd either have to scrap the camera or pay for it to be repaired. Do the same on the X5, and you'll be able to replace the broken lens for a lot less.

The X5 is only one of the best action cameras that you could buy. Our guide breaks down all the best options based on key features and varied budgets.
