OnePlus just dropped its own Apple Watch SE rival with the affordable Watch Lite
- OnePlus has just revealed a new affordable smartwatch
- The OnePlus Watch Lite will offer ‘flagship-level’ features, OnePlus says
- Despite the launch, OnePlus has kept most details under wraps
Looking for an interesting new Android smartwatch to jazz up your wrist? OnePlus believes it has a contender in the form of the OnePlus Watch Lite, a brand-new wearable that’s intended to be a more affordable way into the smartwatch world – but will it do enough to compete against the best cheap smartwatches?
In order to answer that, we need to know what it does. According to OnePlus, the Watch Lite is “a device designed to bring flagship-level health and fitness features to an even more accessible price point.” That gives us hope that the device won’t be too hobbled by its low cost, although OnePlus is keeping the price under wraps for now.
Aside from that, the OnePlus Watch Lite will be available in a Silver Steel finish that OnePlus says “delivers a clean, modern look with a subtle shine that suits both everyday wear and active lifestyles.” That appears to be the only color option for now, though.
That’s about all OnePlus is willing to reveal at this time. We approached the company to see if they had any more information and will update this article when we hear back. For now, OnePlus says the Watch Lite will be revealed in full on December 17, “and more details will be available over the following weeks.”
Full reveal coming later
The OnePlus Watch Lite has been announced alongside two other devices: the OnePlus 15R smartphone and the OnePlus Pad Go 2 tablet. The latter is particularly notable as the first OnePlus tablet to offer 5G connectivity.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumors of the OnePlus Watch Lite. OnePlus itself teased a new watch on its website earlier in November, but it gave little away besides a vague watch outline. Given the timing, this teaser appears to have been hinting at the Watch Lite.
The big question for OnePlus is whether the Watch Lite can compete against the likes of the Amazfit Active 2 and the Apple Watch SE 3. Amazfit’s wearable is currently our pick for the best cheap smartwatch money can buy, and it comes packed with a plethora of impressive features, including strong battery life, excellent health tracking and a gorgeous design.

Right now, there’s no way of knowing how the Watch Lite stacks up without OnePlus releasing more information on its wearable. We’ll get that data come December 17, and that’ll be a key date for anyone hoping to get a new smartwatch without breaking the bank.
